I followed up my questions on the use of slave labour in Xinjiang with an oral intervention pressing the Energy Minister to act on the @thetimes report this week. x.com/davidaltonhl/s…

In an in depth and important analysis by The Times, Bertie Harrison-Broninski - a journalist at Land and Climate Review- opens up the UK-Chinese links over carbon capture technology, including CCP influence over current UK energy infrastructure, and his discovery that UK aid grants from 2016-2018 funded work in Xinjiang: See thetimes.com/article/d012d4…  Longer analysis here: landclimate.org/xinjiang-ccus/ @Ed_Miliband @MPIainDS @YvetteCooperMP @pritipatel @DrCalumMiller @TomTugendhat @aliciakearns @SarahChampionMP In line with the Great British Energy Act of 2025 we need much more transparency and scrutiny of energy projects in Xinjiang - where the CCP stands accused of genocide and slave labour by @HouseofCommons @HumanRightsCtte @JChengWSJ

🚨 Significant news from court: The people accused of getting paid by Hong Kong’s London “consulate” to harass dissidents were NOT JUST TARGETING Hong Kongers, but dissidents from MAINLAND CHINA, too. Obvious implications for diplomatic/ business relations.

It’s disturbing that Mandelson’s China business interests (which he denied) didn’t even warrant a mention in his due diligence. Clear that govt is still nowhere near understanding the nature or penetration of the threat. Quote below from this piece. dailymail.co.uk/news/article-1…

We must not be silent about the outrageous incarceration of Jimmy Lai; about CCP tyranny and its atrocities; or about the persecution of people of faith, political dissidents, or supporters of democracy. Two people who experienced the consequences of silence in the face of an evil ideology were St.Edith Stein and Dietrich Bonhoeffer - both executed by the Nazis. Read what they had to say about silence: “not to speak is to speak”; “those who remain silent are responsible.” After the Holocaust and the Second World War Pastor Martin Niemoller famously reflected on the consequences of making “no comment” noting that in the end “…there was no one left to speak for me.” #FreeJimmyLai #FoRB

EWTN News@EWTNews

Pope Leo XIV told EWTN News he “cannot comment” on Jimmy Lai, the Catholic founder and publisher of the outspoken pro-democracy tabloid Apple Daily, who was sentenced Feb. 9 on charges Chinese authorities say violate national security laws. The pope instead urged for peace, telling reporters: “Let’s pray for less hatred and more peace, and work for authentic dialogue.”

This is completely untrue, unhinged and dangerous Islamophobic nonsense. Iran, Turkey, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Lebanon, Jordan have hosted millions of refugees. Please stop liking and RT-ing lies….!
Rajveer Shahi🇮🇳@RajveerShahi70

85% of the worlds refugees are Muslim. Not one of the 56 Muslim countries are taking in refugees. 11 of these countries are the richest in the world. If Islam is so great; why are Muslims countries not taking care of their own?

Recent 🇨🇳 scandals in the UK 1. Yang Tenbo 2. Christine Li 3. Mandelson 4. Former Prince Andrew aide David Stern 5. Cash and Berry trial collapse 6. HKERO alleged spying case (live) 7. Mega embassy fiasco 8. British Steel (Jingye) 9. Jimmy Lai + others in HK

The UK gave China a free pass by allowing the two Chris' case to collapse, and still refuses to place China - our biggest security threat - in the top tier of our foreign influence laws. It is increasingly unsustainable to keep Beijing our of the scheme designed for them.
