This morning @HouseofLords gave my Bill on Genocide Determination a Second Reading. Despite some anticipated opposition, speakers from all sides were overwhelmingly in support. The Bill now goes to Committee Stage for detailed scrutiny. On this matter of life and death for countless people it will now be up to the Government to provide the necessary parliamentary time if the Bill is to become law @andyburnham. In the House of Commons the MP @alexsobel has agreed to be its Commons sponsor. Papua New Guinea 🇵🇬 announces the immediate closure of the Chinese Taipei 🇹🇼 Economic Office reflecting PNG's "unwavering commitment" to the One China Policy. The PNG Minister of Foreign Affairs formally communicated the decision to the PRC 🇨🇳 ambassador.

Later this morning @UKHouseofLords will decide whether to give my Private Members Bill on Genocide Determination its Second Reading. The Bill would make a significant difference to justice and accountability and enable us to bring an end to the shameful impunity which allows too many perpetrators to get away with murder and other horrific atrocities . Some very significant speakers listed to speak. Time to act. @andyburnham @KemiBadenoch @EdwardJDavey @Nigel_Farage @LordSpeaker @CommonsSpeaker @Coalition4GR @HumanRightsCtte @HelenaKennedyKC @FCDOHumanRights @alexsobel

Beijing’s primary state-run media organ, China Daily, has crossed a dangerous line by releasing a degrading 58-second AI animation that depicts the Philippines as a tattered, screeching monkey to mock a landmark legal ruling. In this official propaganda video, the caricature of the Philippines is shown screaming on a wobbly stage before being thrown into stormy seas, while a massive whale surfaces to label the 2016 South China Sea arbitration ruling as "ocean garbage". Why does a global superpower still need to resort to offensive animal caricatures to handle diplomatic disputes?

🇺🇸 America to Beijing: Hands off Tibet. Just days after a Tibetan activist self-immolated outside the UN, the State Department is reaffirming U.S. support for Tibetans’ right to their culture, language, and faith — free from CCP interference. “The United States is committed to supporting the unalienable human rights and aspirations of Tibetans." This comes as China just rammed through its new “Ethnic Unity” law — forcing Mandarin in schools, erasing Tibetan identity, and claiming the right to punish critics overseas. Human rights groups say it codifies transnational repression targeting Tibetans, Uyghurs, Hong Kongers, and Falun Gong. Congress is moving resolutions in both chambers to condemn China's new law. Tibetans are tearing up copies of the law in protest. #Tibet #CCP #HumanRights
