@krausader When your daily peak is 47k and low is 18k how much of the population will get to play? Won’t it risk dividing the small base too many ways especially across server regions.

Marathon has already done a great job of easing gear fear, but the choice to make Cryo and Ranked weekend only modes subdues the fear even more. Gear up during the week so you can bring your best into Cryo and ranked for the chance at the best gear. If it’s a rough week you have all week to build back up.
I keep thinking if Cryo keeps building on the increasingly more complicated map design, as each prior map has done, then Cryo could possibly be filled with destiny raid puzzles that may take weeks to solve. And with the $5K ante to enter, this could make each weekend an event to further discover Cryo’s secrets - involve the whole community to solve the in game mysteries. Cool possibilities. We will see how this design choice will land!

I was just reading on reddit people complaining that outside of NA servers are empty. People were being matched countries away and their ping was unplayable.
Others said they just got matched with the same sweaty hackers game after game. They were really feeling it. And that was hours before this low!

I've seen the same cheater TWICE on different days.
Shooting through walls and no insta-ban is insane.
Also, you could return gear when you die to a cheater. This will boost the community morale because right now looks like cheaters are winning.

Imagine if AAA studios saw the numbers these single-player games are doing versus what these live-service, trend-chasing games are doing.
I love Marathon but if it had rolled out with a single-player campaign, fully exploring and solving the mystery of what happened, then leaving room for more or dealing with the repercussions with future, multiplayer-only content... I would've paid $70 for that.

Marathon devs have shared their reasons for Ranked and Cryo Archive being weekend only:
- Players will lose a lot of gear, so Cryo and Ranked should feel like an event you schedule towards and grind gear up to do
- Some rewards on Cryo are too good and would break the economy and power gain systems if it were always open
- Cryo and Ranked both have gear ante requirements and level requirements and need a consistent flow of players in the queue to make sure matches are full to retain the challenge. Making it a scheduled event means more players will show up during that window.

I *think* I know why they are doing this, there’s already so many queues up and idk if the player pop will allow for it to be so stretched. Having a cadence where during the week you gear up and fill vault for weekend activities makes sense in a way.
Does it suck for ppl who can’t play weekends? Of course. But is it healthier overall for the game? Maybe. We shall see.
