The meals during Shavuos at @MasbiaBoroPark were described by the mashgiach/chef Shimon Shimonovitz as "PACKED". As the chef, it definitely brings him joy that so many came and enjoyed the holiday meals he prepared. From a birds-eye view, it might be more of a sad picture, as it shows how many people were in need of food on a holiday. At Masbia, we always anticipate more people will show up than the number of people who made reservations. We try to be mindful not to create too much waste. while making sure everyone gets food. Since this holiday was so close to Shabbos, having an abundance of salmon and gefilte fish or kugels was an easy hedge to make, since if it won't be eaten on the holiday, we will cook less for Shabbos. The reality this morning was that we had to cook everything for Shabbos as if there were no holiday yesterday. That's how packed it was.
