Our public libraries are a testament to government's ability to deliver excellent free services. But for too long, they've been forced to fight for budget scraps. This year, we are changing that: I am proud to announce $31.7 million in new funding for our libraries. Expect more staff, expanded hours, robust programming, and lots of copies of the Very Hungry Caterpillar for New York's Cutest.

@Orangepillman @99boosterjabs @HodlMagoo @Square @bitrefill Money has a definition, it's not just what you want it to be. People trade with commodities, that doesn't convert the commodity into a money status, jusdt because the parties exchanged value. Spontaneous general acceptance is what makes a good money. there are books outlining.

@PonyFoundation @99boosterjabs @HodlMagoo @Square @bitrefill If Bitcoin is accepted as a medium of exchange for goods and services between two economizing individuals by definition, it is money. Square does not require the merchant to accept bitcoin as a final medium of exchange, however it does not require authorization to pay with btc

The Democrats are painting a terrifying picture of what they plan to do if they gain power — and I think they mean it. Don't believe me? Listen to the likely Democratic nominee for President in 2028 in her own words 👇

@99boosterjabs @HodlMagoo Money is a generally accepted medium of exchange. If you can't spend it in most locations, it ain't money. It has great properties to be money, but we have a long way to go before it's generally accepted.

When Gavin Newsom says he wants to provide "digital equity" for "justice-impacted individuals," it means giving free iPads to all state prisoners, who are using them to watch porn, have x-rated video chats, and abuse minors on the outside. Get real: they're not learning to code.

When we released the new version of "Superman for Alon and the Hostages" we all prayed that one day Alon would sit at a piano with me and together we'd perform Superman. For all of you who fought for the hostages and their families. This video of that miracle is for you. 🇺🇸🇮🇱

While Bitcoin gets a lot of attention, it hasn’t played the safe-haven role many expected. In my view, there are a few reasons why. First, Bitcoin lacks privacy. Transactions can be monitored and potentially controlled, which is why central banks aren’t looking to hold it. Second, it also has a high correlation with tech stocks. When investors get squeezed in other areas of their portfolio, they sell their Bitcoin to cover it. Third, it’s a relatively small and controllable market, whereas gold stands alone. There is only one gold. Ultimately, gold is more widely held, deeply established, and still plays a central role in the global system.

@Kristinartz Why not 30? Also, give everyone a trillion dollars. That’s the way it “should” be. Agree?

This is excellent creative thinking on how to overturn the redistricting decision: Lower the retirement age of justices on the VA Supreme Court and whoosh, they all have to go. Appoint new judges, rehear case, get a different ruling. the-downballot.com/p/how-virginia…

@PalmerLuckey @AOC Almost all of a billionaire's worth is from collecting the difference between the value of labor and the market price for labor. Is it exploitation? In a market where the gap between rich and poor is huge and expanding, I'd say there is some exploitation happening.

The single largest form of theft in America is wage theft. $50 billion a year are stolen from American workers. If a billionaire amasses their wealth by underpaying their full-time workers so severely that they must rely on food assistance and government programs to survive, then no, that wealth was not earned by one individual - it was a wealth transfer subsidized by underpaid American workers and the public who get stuck with the bill for large corporations free-riding off our systems. The point is less about individual morality. It’s more about how our current economic reality of shattering inequality rewards screwing over workers and exploiting essential systems at scale. We’re talking monopoly power. Rent-seeking. Wage theft. Profiteering. Stock buybacks. Destabilizing housing markets. Companies using SNAP/EBT to underwrite their wages. Massive government subsidies or contracts to corporations following lobbying and dark money in politics with little to no oversight or accountability. Some people get enraged that I draw attention to this. That’s on them. Let them call me shrill, dumb, inexperienced, girly, uneducated - these folks will say anything to distract from or undercut the truth that working people are getting screwed, and giving people a fair shake means we must have a grown conversation about reigning in abuse of power.
Marco Foster@MarcoFoster_

AOC: “There’s a certain level of wealth and accumulation that is unearned. You can’t earn a billion dollars. You just can’t earn that. You can get market power, you can break rules, you can abuse labor laws, you can pay people less than what they’re worth, but you can’t earn that”

@AOC The idea that all billionaires got their money by exploiting peopl doesn't hold up to any scrutiny. JK Rowling wrote books about cheeky wizards. I invented a better way to make virtual reality headsets and games to play on them. We just made things people wanted.

This article and many others like it are just trying to pathologize male sexuality. They’re doing so by playing a sleight of hand game where they conflate the fact that the only thing men need for a pleasurable sexual encounter is sexual attraction with the only thing men value in women is sexual attraction. It’s not true. It’s absurd Dworkinesque feminism trying to pass for scientific enquiry.
