The "Return to Office" push has nothing to do with productivity. It's about justifying commercial real estate investments and making sure middle managers feel important. You proved you can do the job from home, they just need you visible so they can pretend to manage you.

The uproar I’m seeing on my timeline about the rona scam should’ve been going on in 2020 instead of 2026.

@randomrecruiter Did the 5pm Friday all hands to learn that most of the company was gone, but we were ok. Come in Monday and most of the ok people are individually walked into HR and told about a paperwork mistake and we were laid off too.

Corporate events ranked by how much they signal the company is falling apart: 1. Mandatory pizza party → Someone quit 2. Suddenly announced "culture committee" → Someone sued 3. CEO sends a "family" email → Layoffs in 2 weeks 4. HR starts a book club → Half the department is getting PIP'd 5. "All hands" scheduled at 5pm on a Friday → Update your resume

As an author, Fauci keeping a diary talking about how he lied to everyone while preening over his celebrity status is...hard to stomach. If I wrote my villain doing this, I'd get screamed at for having the Real Stupid Villain trope and for it all being too unrealistic.
