“Suozzi has been fighting for noise reduction at the airport since taking office in 2017, and again last year.” My fight with the FAA isn’t stopping with JFK. I am taking them on regarding LaGuardia’s “TNNIS Climb,” dubbed such because it was created in 2012 to prevent planes from flying over the National Tennis Center during the US Open. What was supposed to be an annual two-week change in departure flight patterns has become a permanent and deafening noise assault on residents in Bayside, Bay Terrace, Beechurst, Whitestone, and northeast Queens. At times, the TNNIS Climb has been in effect from 6:00 am to 11:00 pm, exacerbating health problems and reducing the quality of life for everyone in northeast Queens. The FAA may try to run, but they cannot hide. I am committed to holding them accountable and ensuring they take meaningful action, not just lip service, to address these issues.

Yesterday: With NO wind (calm wind in cyan), suddenly ATC switched from 4s to 22s, so we had to endure 9hrs of pollution unnecessarily. At all times the forecast remained favorable to 4s, or 31s for one hr., but never favorable to 22s. Again 13s/31s closed. At one point they were using ILS 22L/22R with very low volume and no wind. Completely unnecessary. This is abuse.
