Sure he's more valuable as a shortstop in a trade or as a free agent, but he has no trade value and who cares what he gets in free agency

@Havoc_XXI @MarinerMuse It is, but his value is highest to the Mariners at SS given the positional adjustment and how well he hits. I don't love it but I get why they're keeping him there. He would take DH at-bats away from Raley/Canzone, too.

I did a quick search of the transcripts I have with Dan Wilson -- pregame and postgame. I don't have all of them catalogued. He has been asked some version of choosing to use his bench to pinch hit and the overall platoon philosophy at least six times this season. I think there are more.
The general response from Wilson has been essentially: These are hard/tough decisions. We trust our guys. We brought them here for this situation.

I like Raley and Dom's chances after playing a full game and seeing live pitches better than being stuck with their replacements to face this absolute monster. Somebody has to bat against Miller, it should be good players.

TBH Minnesota's best hope at the Finals in the near future is moving to the East.
There are high risk swings they could take this offseason—most notably Morant or perhaps Kyrie—or they could take a step back and try to retrench for 2028 or 2029. But they badly need expansion.

Julius Randle can’t be relied upon as the No. 2 for the Wolves to take the next step. I really think they need to find a high-level playmaking guard, but that's easier said than done. They may just be stuck in the second tier for a bit. The bar in the West is insanely high.

Can I ask a question?
If the lefty comes in and is more often than not (no stats just observation) followed by a high leverage righty. Is there any statistical edge to losing raley/canzone for ref/joe if in either scenario they each would face a rhp and lhp. There is no way mathematically that the EV of the platoon edge covers the talent gap.
