#PashanLake was a bird’s paradise!! Back in 2008 @PMCPune and #NERI had carried out restoration work through #JNNURM funds. Thats when the walking track, embankment, and the interpretation centre, that one sees today, was constructed. The work went on for over five years. Two years later the situation was back to square one. Many ecological experts, including a dear friend, late Dharmaraj Patil, who was associated with it, were critical of the work. The desilting was not done properly, natural streams were blocked bcoz of the way the embankment was built, it also rendered the lake water stagnant, untreated sewage was allowed to flow in. Today this is the plight of 140acre man-made wetland area right within the city! Why is it so hard to keep these spaces alive and clean??! 🙄🙄

They’re cutting down 250 year old banyan trees in Nashik for the upcoming Kumbh Mela. I want development in my city, but it honestly hurts to see trees that have stood for generations being cut down. There are many ways to deal with such issues, but this just feels wrong💔

Apparently, there is new hardware that can run LLMs much, much faster. It can easily give you over 15,000 tokens per second, which is stupidly fast. From what I understand, it's 'hard-coded,' meaning that you can't change the weights or anything; the chip itself can only run the model from the day it's manufactured, forever. Interesting concept.
