I applied to @ycombinator . solo founder. no team, no funding. just me and a project i built because i got sick of how broken job hunting has become. it's called JustHireMe (@JustHireMeAi ). it runs your whole job search locally, on your own machine: pulls real jobs straight from company hiring systems (greenhouse, lever, and more) scores each one against your actual CV tells you in plain english why it fits or doesn't drafts the application for you to approve no API key. nothing ever leaves your computer. why i built it: AI made applying free, so everyone started spraying hundreds of applications and the signal just died. everyone's building a louder megaphone. i wanted to build the filter. open sourced it in May and it kind of took off on its own, zero ads: ~2,180 github stars ~24 people sending in PRs 2,000 downloads across windows, mac and linux a new release every week or two every single line written by me for the application i recorded a founder video and a full walkthrough of the whole system running end to end. figured why not just share them, so here they are. funny part: i dictated my entire YC application using another project i built, svara.vasudev.live. literally just spoke all my answers out loud and it turned them into clean text. saved me hours. easily the scariest and most exciting thing i've done. let's see how it goes.

@AlboMP @SenatorWong Are Indians safe in Australia? Doesn't look like! What's the point of inviting high skilled Indians to become Permanent Residents in Australia if you can't provide a safe environment and there is general animosity and hate against Indians! @DrSJaishankar

The hour was never the product, it was just the easiest thing to meter. What clients are actually buying now is a working system plus someone accountable when it drifts in production. The firms in trouble are the ones whose entire pricing sheet assumed those two things were the same.

Infosys cut its revenue forecast this week. The reason it gave is that enterprises are moving their budgets out of outsourced hours and into AI they can control. The outsourcing model was built on billing by the hour, which only grows when the work stays slow and manual. So when businesses can, instead, build something in weeks/months and watch exactly what it does, the business model of time and materials stops making sense. Large regulated enterprises that have high demands on precision and quality are using 8090's team and our Software Factory to help rewrite years of old code and eliminate billions of dollars of sunk cost with it. The kind-looking attendant outside the washroom at Bangalore Airport greeted me with folded hands and requested feedback. “Sure,” I said. Out of habit, I instinctively reached for the ‘Very Satisfied’ button, just as I do at Singapore’s Changi Airport. It wasn’t there. “QR scan, sir,” he said. Fair enough. I scanned the code, tapped ‘Excellent’… and then came the surprise. A form with mandatory fields to fill - name, mobile, email, T&Cs. For a washroom visit. Really disappointed that OTP and Aadhaar weren’t mandatory.

LoP Shri @RahulGandhi and @INCIndia continue to shamelessly exploit students as political tools to manufacture disruption during the Monsoon Session of Parliament. Shri @RahulGandhi and @INCIndia chose to stage a dharna outside the Hon'ble Prime Minister's residence , causing inconvenience to the public and disregarding established security protocols. Even after Government conveyed its readiness for a comprehensive discussion, the Congress chose political spectacle over democratic debate. Their objective was never solutions for students, it was disruption for political headlines For Rahul Gandhi, this is not about students. This is about manufacturing confrontation after every genuine avenue for discussion has been opened. Our Government remains 100% committed to discussing NEET and addressing every genuine concern of our youth on the floor of the House. The students of India deserve far better than being treated as props in a political campaign. They deserve certainty over chaos, solutions over slogans and responsibility over disruption. We owe our students more than outrage. We owe them answers, reforms and accountability. That is exactly what our government remains committed to delivering.

We scaled to $3.5M ARR in less than 1 year. No one wants to hear this, but there’s no magic distribution channel. We scalled by testmaxxing every channel depending on our MRR level. €0 → $6k MRR: pure outbound. Cold email plus LinkedIn, using our own early product on ourselves. No brand, no audience, just us reaching out to people showing intent and starting conversations. Ugly, manual, effective. $10k → $25k MRR: Reddit. Our first real acquisition breakthrough. We posted educational breakdowns in SaaS subreddits and did 10M+ organic views. The traffic quality wasn't amazing, but the volume was so huge it flooded our trial funnel for months. Cost: basically zero. $25k → $75k MRR: content plus free blueprints. We went all-in on LinkedIn content, YouTube, motion-design videos, and giving away our internal systems as free "blueprints." Content got the reach, the blueprints earned the trust, and a chunk of readers converted. This is where founder-led content started compounding. $75k → $150k MRR: partnerships and X. We added Twitter, B2B influencers, sponsored newsletters, and a lifetime affiliate program that became a major lever. We also joined YC around here, and the intensity went vertical. $150k+ MRR: paid and hiring. Meta ads, Google ads, influencer agencies, and hiring seriously for the first time, growth, sales, engineering, product. None of these stages replaced the last one. They stacked. Outbound never stopped. Content never stopped. We just kept adding the next lever once the current one was clearly working. If you take one thing from this: don't chase five channels at once. Beat one until it works, then add the next.

@iqrafatma1278 Firstly, this tipping biz is so not in sync with 2026. It is not 1985. The world has moved to a fixed service charge as part of the bill, do that...Instead of this tip business. Even better, raise salaries of servers so they feel more valued. Restauranteurs - wake up.

My wife and I went out to dinner last night, and I’m still a little confused by what happened. 😅🍽️ Our bill was about $70, and we left a $20 tip. In my mind, that seemed more than fair. It wasn’t meant to be cheap or disrespectful — we paid the bill, left what we thought was a good tip, and were ready to go. But the waiter seemed unhappy and made a comment that if we weren’t willing to tip more, we shouldn’t be dining out. That honestly surprised me. A $20 tip on a $70 bill is close to 30%, so I didn’t think we had done anything wrong. I completely understand that servers work hard, and I know tips are an important part of their income. But when a customer leaves what feels like a generous tip and still gets made to feel like it isn’t enough, it makes the whole tipping conversation feel even more uncomfortable. Tipping used to feel like a thank-you for good service. Now it sometimes feels like there’s a number people are expected to hit, and anything below that can cause tension. It feels like everyone is frustrated — customers feel pressured, servers feel undervalued, and the system puts both sides in an awkward position. So I’m genuinely curious: was $20 on a $70 bill unreasonable, or have tipping expectations changed that much? Would you have been surprised too?
