India 🇮🇳 and China 🇨🇳 agree to be partners, not rivals. The meeting between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and President Xi Jinping in Tianjin is the strongest signal yet of the emerging multipolar global order. This is our common future! Europe 🇪🇺 should learn from China and India. Both China and India stands up to global bullying and unfair unilateral tariffs. They will not let disagreements and past conflicts overshadow the enormous opportunities for economic and politcal win - wins. When Europe acts like a serf of the US we dont get respect - whether from our own people or from the world. Both China and India are ready to partner with the US on trade and more. But on their own terms, defending the interests of their people. The two leaders together represent 3000 million people, 37% of all humans. India hosts the fastest growing large economy. China grows at 5% and dominate the green transition. Together they are dynamite. Europe must stop seeing itself as the tail of the US and reach out to the global south for partnerships in the new multipolar world. The world is not an appendix to Ukraine. Indias foreign minister Jaishankar recently said that Europe must not act as if the worlds problems are not Europes problems while Europes problem are the worlds problems. Ancient Indian🇮🇳 ideas can help us better understand our relations to Mother Earth. Attending Mahakumbh was wonderful - it comes to an end this week. I reflect a bit on what the Hindu Dharma teaches us about nature. In Western thinking, humans are normally placed ABOVE nature. We can kill animals, destroy nature, burn down forests at will. In historic Indian thinking humans are PART OF nature. The old Indians venerated nature. A dip in holy rivers like Ganga, is a Godly act. God is even half human half animal - as Ganesh and Hanuman. Mother Earth doesnt depend on humans. We depend on Mother Earth. It’s time to understand the wisdom of the ancient Indian thinking.
