History in the making as we completed the world’s largest nuclear refurbishment, ahead of schedule and $150M under budget. A big win for Ontario, with 96% of the Darlington refurbishment #MADEINCANADA 🇨🇦

Today, the Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission, the Government of Canada agency that regulates the use of nuclear energy and materials in Canada, approved Nexgen’s Rook I project – paving the way to get shovels in the ground this summer at a uranium mine that could supply 20% of global demand. This is great news for the Canadian nuclear energy industry, the province of Saskatchewan, and for our ambitions to be an energy superpower. Uranium from Saskatchewan allows us to produce clean, nuclear energy at home, and makes us the second largest producer and exporter of uranium in the world, with production value reaching $3 billion in 2024. It underpins Canadian and global energy security while employing more than 2,300 Saskatchewanians. Saskatchewan has the best uranium deposits in the world – with a grade 100x the global average – and uranium processing, refining, conversion, and fuel fabrication happens across Canada. Projects like Rook I are working with Indigenous Peoples in Saskatchewan’s north to turn this resource into economic growth locally and nationally, and our government is proud to do our part by clearing the way – with this being the second uranium mine in Saskatchewan to get federal approval this year. Our government promised Canadians we would get projects built and be an energy superpower. With every project we approve, that’s exactly what we are doing. cbc.ca/news/canada/sa…

The momentum continues as we connect Canada 🇨🇦 It was exciting to join Alberta’s Minister of Affordability and Utilities, @neudorf_ab, as we formally signed our partnership to build a stronger, more connected Canadian grid. Ending the fragmented electricity grids of Canada that undermine reliability and economic efficiency. Ontario is proud to have secured an agreement with provinces and territories to help supercharge Canada's economy.
