Canada’s nuclear story stood out at @CERAWeek in Houston. Canadian nuclear industry leaders highlighted Canada’s advantages across the nuclear value chain and how their companies are helping position the country as a global leader in new nuclear. As nuclear energy takes on greater prominence in the global energy conversation, Canada’s record is drawing increasing attention. With a strong track record in delivering complex refurbishment projects, the first SMR project in the G7 with plans for additional units, and a broader pipeline of new nuclear projects, including uranium development, Canada is demonstrating that execution is the foundation of long-term leadership in new nuclear. @opg @cameconews @atkinsrealis @NexGenEnergy_ #CERAWeek #NewNuclear #SMRs #NuclearEnergy #EnergySecurity #Canada #OPG #Cameco #AtkinsRealis #NexGen #CASMR #SMRForum

The digging is done. Now we build up. 🏗️ At Darlington, we've completed excavation across three shafts supporting our first SMR unit and shared services. Two will support the tunnel boring machine that will build the deep water intake for all four of our planned SMRs. The third will provide the foundation for the Western world's first grid-scale SMR. Milestone by milestone, we're building the new clean energy generation that will power our economy. Learn more: bit.ly/4lBKt7T

On the sidelines of PDAC 2026 and @CIBC Capital Markets Nuclear Summit, I had the pleasure of briefly connecting with Tim Gitzel, CEO of @cameconews , and with Grant Isaac, President and COO, at a significant moment for the company. Earlier this month, @cameconews entered into a long-term agreement to supply uranium ore concentrate (U3O8) to the Government of India’s Department of Atomic Energy for use in the country’s fleet of nuclear reactors. The agreement covers nearly 22 million pounds of uranium ore concentrate over a nine-year period, with an estimated total value of approximately $2.6 billion. This is a strategic development for Canada, reinforcing its role as a trusted supplier of uranium, while supporting India’s civil nuclear fuel needs as the country advances toward 100 GW of nuclear capacity by 2047. #PDAC2026 #Cameco #Uranium #Saskatchewan #EnergySecurity #NuclearFuel #NewNuclear #CriticalMinerals #India #CASMR #SMRForum #NuclearExportDiplomacy

Ontario’s nuclear advantage is the envy of the world. With Darlington Unit 4 back on the grid at full power, Ontario & @opg have completed the world’s largest nuclear refurbishment nearly five months ahead of schedule & $150M under budget. This marks the full completion of the Darlington refurbishment & stands as a true made-in-Canada success story, with over 90% of project spending staying in Canada, generating $90B in economic benefits & supporting more than 14,000 good-paying jobs.
Stephen Lecce@Sflecce

History in the making as we completed the world’s largest nuclear refurbishment, ahead of schedule and $150M under budget. A big win for Ontario, with 96% of the Darlington refurbishment #MADEINCANADA 🇨🇦

Congratulations to @NexGenEnergy_ on receiving approval from the @CNSC_CCSN to prepare the site for and construct the Rook I Project in Saskatchewan. This milestone represents an important step not only for NexGen, but also for Canada’s role in strengthening the global nuclear fuel supply chain. As new nuclear deployment accelerates worldwide, secure and responsibly produced uranium will be essential to supporting energy security, industrial competitiveness, and long-term economic growth. Projects such as Rook I highlight the growing nexus between critical minerals and new nuclear, reinforcing Canada’s position as a trusted supplier of uranium and helping to position the country as a global leader in the next generation of nuclear energy. #EnergySecurity #CriticalMinerals #NewNuclear #Uranium #SMRs #NuclearFuel #CASMR #SMRForum
Tim Hodgson@timhodgsonmt

Today, the Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission, the Government of Canada agency that regulates the use of nuclear energy and materials in Canada, approved Nexgen’s Rook I project – paving the way to get shovels in the ground this summer at a uranium mine that could supply 20% of global demand.   This is great news for the Canadian nuclear energy industry, the province of Saskatchewan, and for our ambitions to be an energy superpower. Uranium from Saskatchewan allows us to produce clean, nuclear energy at home, and makes us the second largest producer and exporter of uranium in the world, with production value reaching $3 billion in 2024. It underpins Canadian and global energy security while employing more than 2,300 Saskatchewanians.   Saskatchewan has the best uranium deposits in the world – with a grade 100x the global average – and uranium processing, refining, conversion, and fuel fabrication happens across Canada. Projects like Rook I are working with Indigenous Peoples in Saskatchewan’s north to turn this resource into economic growth locally and nationally, and our government is proud to do our part by clearing the way – with this being the second uranium mine in Saskatchewan to get federal approval this year.   Our government promised Canadians we would get projects built and be an energy superpower. With every project we approve, that’s exactly what we are doing. cbc.ca/news/canada/sa…
