The single largest form of theft in America is wage theft. $50 billion a year are stolen from American workers. If a billionaire amasses their wealth by underpaying their full-time workers so severely that they must rely on food assistance and government programs to survive, then no, that wealth was not earned by one individual - it was a wealth transfer subsidized by underpaid American workers and the public who get stuck with the bill for large corporations free-riding off our systems. The point is less about individual morality. It’s more about how our current economic reality of shattering inequality rewards screwing over workers and exploiting essential systems at scale. We’re talking monopoly power. Rent-seeking. Wage theft. Profiteering. Stock buybacks. Destabilizing housing markets. Companies using SNAP/EBT to underwrite their wages. Massive government subsidies or contracts to corporations following lobbying and dark money in politics with little to no oversight or accountability. Some people get enraged that I draw attention to this. That’s on them. Let them call me shrill, dumb, inexperienced, girly, uneducated - these folks will say anything to distract from or undercut the truth that working people are getting screwed, and giving people a fair shake means we must have a grown conversation about reigning in abuse of power.

AOC: “There’s a certain level of wealth and accumulation that is unearned. You can’t earn a billion dollars. You just can’t earn that. You can get market power, you can break rules, you can abuse labor laws, you can pay people less than what they’re worth, but you can’t earn that”

@biancoresearch The ten year is below 4.45.. 59 bps off the worst levels. Does the 30 yr actually mean anything? Seemed like all your predictions were the ten yr but thankfully mortgage rates are hanging in there

@ggreenwald @CynicalPublius It's inflation. It's broken money. It's so much bigger than policy or party. And the only president in many people's lives to even try to do something else is the one there now.

Healthy societies have old people delivering food to rich people. Old people love this. They have no other way they'd rather spend their time than this. Remember when the Trump movement pretended to support economic populism or whatever? Couples with young kids probably love working two or three hourly wage jobs outside their home rather than having one parent stay at home to raise their kid. I bet people also love not being able to buy a house or start a family.

@ArthurMacwaters The problem with capitalism however, is people will do literally anything for profit. They’d even put addictive substances in your food just so that you buy more of it. What could be a perfect system? 🤔

@HotSotin Did you forget about other factors involved, like the fact that NK has no freedom? Maybe the fact that the dictator deliberately keeps the people underfed and cut off from the outside world to keep them in line? You don’t think those issues might be playing a role in this?

Grok estimated the IQ needed to understand Bitcoin: «Around 125–140 IQ (top 2% of the world) is a reasonable estimate for the level where someone could fully grasp Bitcoin—not just the mechanics, but its potential to reshape the world if it succeeds as a dominant global money.»

@xultulpeper Derivatives control short term price action, not always but around 95% of the time. Long term spot investors control the long term price discovery mechanism. Apart from that I agree Saylor can’t stem a bear market by himself. The market is much bigger.

Saylor cannot single handedly break the bear market and send you back in a bull market. Derivatives markets dominate price. Not Saylor. Futures, perpetual swaps and options run the show. Not the 10k BTC Saylor will buy every week. We’re in a bear market. That’s all. Accept it.

If there’s a way to use land efficiently to have a data center, I’m open to that. But to me, it is really about the efficiency and the highest and best use of the land that we have left in the city. spectrumnews1.com/wi/green-bay/n…

What's most repulsive about Rubio's speech, and the warm embrace it received from the European ruling class, is that its only vision for "Western civilization" is a future of endless imperialist violence. They have nothing else to offer to their citizens, or to the world. No vision for addressing social and ecological crises, no vision for improving people's lives, no vision for human progress... no other vision for "greatness" besides violence and plunder. It is, in fact, the antithesis of civilization. It is barbarism.

Generally speaking, the Kelly Criterion says you should be 70% invested in Bitcoin. Some people rebalanced at 110-120K, but even those who did of course face mark to market pain. If you are using a 1 yr rebalancing, its unclear if they will ever be buying back lower. X is full of people who never had any exposure to Bitcoin cheering for it to go lower, to justify their lack of profits. It's very unlikely that any significant amount of Bitcoin will ever be transferred to this cohort. The only way to rack of significant long term Bitcoin is to HODL and take the pain. Kelly can aleviate, but not eliminate.
