I’m sorry but these people are all so fcking stupid I can hardly stand it anymore. Joe Kent posted that on January 8, 2020, immediately after Iran retaliated against the US for killing General Soleimani. It was the first of what was expected to be multiple waves of strikes on US bases. Ultimately those subsequent waves did not come because hours later Iran shot down a Ukrainian airliner after takeoff from Tehran, mistaking it for a US retaliation missile. All 176 people on board were killed, including 84 Iranians. This incident inspired huge protests in Iran days later and domestic volatility took precedence. Kent’s messaging here is *perfectly* consistent with his resignation statement because there was an *imminent* threat to our troops in the region on January 8, 2020. NO👏🏻SUCH👏🏻THREAT👏🏻EXISTED👏🏻ON👏🏻FEBRUARY👏🏻28TH👏🏻 (And please spare me the lectures on how we shouldn’t have been there to begin with. Obviously I agree. This post is only meant to provide context to this completely out of context screenshot I keep seeing every mouth breathing warpig on X pass around like it’s some kind of golden gotcha.)

After much reflection, I have decided to resign from my position as Director of the National Counterterrorism Center, effective today. I cannot in good conscience support the ongoing war in Iran. Iran posed no imminent threat to our nation, and it is clear that we started this war due to pressure from Israel and its powerful American lobby.
