At least one AZ public school only offers classroom instruction primarily in Spanish with no equivalent English option. 🇺🇸
Ventana Vista Elementary School sits in the affluent Catalina Foothills where residents fund public schools with 90% higher property taxes than the county average. 💰
It's a beautiful area with hiking trails, golf greens, and high-end shops. Yet, the one thing families here can't do here is understand their teachers. 👩🏫
Until around 2020, VVES had an English only option along with their Spanish Immersion program. Then at some unknown time, the school quietly removed the English-only program. 🤫
Unless a new resident directly asks the school whether they offer English only instruction, they will never know until they arrive with their child. If they want English-speaking classrooms, they'll need to apply to another public school outside of their local area.😯
Maybe Spanish-immersion is a good option but should it be our only option? 🤷♂️
