“Pakistan’s real transformation depends not on policymaking alone but on effective, citizen‑centred governance,” said Prof. Ahsan Iqbal @betterpakistan, Federal Minister @PlanComPakistan, at a @SDPIPakistan–UNDP policy dialogue in Islamabad. He stressed that empowered local governments are essential, as provincial capitals cannot address challenges in remote districts. The dialogue, opened by @AbidSuleri, Executive Director @SDPIPakistan, featured insights from Dr. @SamuelRizk, Resident Representative and @Van_ntn, Deputy Resident Representative #UNDPinPakistan; @MattdClancy, Group Head – Governance & Inclusion, @ukinpakistan and governance expert Suleman Ghani, highlighting evidence-based reforms, digital transformation, and stronger institutions. Presentations highlighted UNDP’s Risk Governance Framework in Sindh and Own-Source Revenue initiatives in Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

The Diplomatic Insight@DiplomaticIns

The month of March reminds us that conversations about women's leadership are an opportunity to reflect on how institutions evolve, how representation shapes decision-making, and how women continue to influence diplomacy, governance, and global cooperation. This webinar "Only Woman in the Room" was organized by The Institute of Peace and Diplomatic Studies (IPDS) and The Diplomatic Insight. It captures something that statistics alone cannot measure: the lived experience of being the sole female voice at a negotiating table, in a cabinet chamber, or inside a diplomatic mission. In light of this, we had an extraordinary panel. These women represent the front lines of development, traditional diplomacy, humanitarian action, and professional protocol. Our panellists included: Ms. Van Nguyen: Deputy Resident Representative, UNDP Pakistan. Ms. Naela Chohan: Former Ambassador of Pakistan Ms. Pernille Ironside: UNICEF Representative in Pakistan Ms. Catalina Bora: Founder of the Institute of Etiquette and Protocol Dr. Nikoletta Hosso: President of the Organization of International Protocol Professionals To watch the full webinar, click the link below! youtu.be/X0KtLaL1aoE @UNDP_Pakistan @van_ntn @NSogetsu9396 @PernilleUNICEF @UNICEF_Pakistan

On #WorldGlacierDay, we’re reminded that glaciers are lifelines and protecting them means protecting entire communities. Through the Water for Development Project, #UNDPinPakistan — funded by @ItalyMFA and in partnership with @EvK2CNR — is working in Gilgit-Baltistan to strengthen glacier and water monitoring, upgrade labs for safe water, crop and livestock health, and equip young people with the skills to lead #ClimateAction. Together, we’re safeguarding ecosystems and nurturing a climate-ready Pakistan.

🏠In Urak, Balochistan, 700+ climate-disaster resilient homes are being rebuilt using smart local design and inputs. These are cooler homes for heat adaptation, w accessible layouts for people with different mobility needs, and reinforced beams to withstand seismic shocks. Our strong partnership with Germany @KfW_Islamabad, and the Gov’t of Balochistan has enabled this @UNDP_Pakistan Flood Resilience Programme to test, expand and drive resilient recovery. Climate-induced floods can disrupt education — damaging schools and making it harder for children, especially girls, to access safe learning spaces. 📚 #UNDPinPakistan and @CanadaDev/@CanHCPakistan are rehabilitating 40 schools in three districts of Sindh affected by the 2022 floods, improving infrastructure and WASH facilities to help nearly 15,000 students — including 10,000 girls — return to safer classrooms. A joint mission recently visited schools in Larkana to kick off rehabilitation works and engage with communities. Together, we are helping restore safe learning spaces and ensuring girls can continue their education after the floods. 💛 #RestoringGirlsEducation #FloodRecoveryProgramme #BuildForwardBetter

As climate disasters worsen, women and girls bear the heaviest toll — their education disrupted, opportunities limited, and potential held back. This International Women’s Day, #UNDPinPakistan reaffirms its commitment to empowering women and girls through resilient, inclusive recovery. With support from the Government of Canada through Global Affairs Canada, UNDP’s #FloodRecoveryProgramme is rehabilitating 40 schools damaged by the 2022 floods across three districts of Sindh — restoring safe, inclusive, and climate-resilient learning spaces for nearly 15,000 students, including 10,000 girls. 📚 Because when girls can return to safe classrooms, communities recover stronger. #BuildForwardBetter #IWD2026 #GiveToGain
