Day 253 since President signed PL117-200 into law, since Dept of Ed decided they could do what they want & not execute the law, since GOP has tried 2 reverse the law & make Student Loans profitable for the Fed again. Its our RIGHT! Separate these loans! @usedgov @SC_DoUsPart

@usedgov @988Lifeline Or joint consolidation borrowers who got a law passed through Congress to end their suffering and signed by @POTUS 10/11/2022, yet you won’t implement before late 2024? This tweet is beyond words @SC_DoUsPart

@SecCardona @POTUS Here's some low hanging fruit - implement the JCLSA. Law of the land since October. @Navient refuses to follow @usdoegov guidance and will not place FFEL Joint Spousal Consolidated Loans in Administrative Forbearance pending implementation. @SC_DoUsPart

@SecCardona @POTUS Do you, though? Do you see the ones that were left behind entrapped in JCLs @SecCardona? This tweet is infuriating & careless. Follow Law 117-200. @SC_DoUsPart

@SenWarren How about demanding that the Dept of Ed implement the Joint Consolidated Loan Separation Act? It's been law of the land since October of '22. @usdoegov refuses to implement it. @Navient won't place loans in Administrative Forbearance pending its implementation. @SC_DoUsPart

@SecCardona @usedgov Yes. That does suck, sir. You do have the power still to help Joint Spousal Student Loan holders though. We are still waiting 8 months later for you to separate our loans. It is solely in your hands now and we have been waiting and waiting. @SC_DoUsPart

Today, SCOTUS ruled against students & families across the country. It’s an outrage that lawsuits brought on by Republicans have blocked critical student debt relief that would have been a lifeline for 40 million+ Americans—nearly 90% of whom make less than $75k a year.

@SecCardona @SecCardona this is gaslighting in its purest form. YOU’RE NOT HELPING US! Joint Spousal Consolidation Loanholders are waiting on YOU to help us!!

5) I pride myself on being an expert on all things related to #StudentDebt. I have run across JCL’s several times in the past but I’m no expert. I’m learning as I go but will do my best to provide updates & insight moving forward.

4) For anyone who is reading this who has not never heard of #JointConsolidationLoans, or anyone reading this who has a JCL but didn’t realize there’s a solution, please check this article. It’s pretty good and contains a link to the law itself: nerdwallet.com/article/loans/…

3) When I call the Lawmakers, I don’t know if I will get the secretary or the answering machine. Either way I am going to start planting the seed that anyone who has paid during the COVID pause should get a full refund. Especially those whose loans will be forgiven through PSLF.

2) I have a long list of places to call including Loan Servicers, Collection Companies & Lawmakers (sponsors & cosponsors of the #JCLSA). I’m going to say THEY NEED TO HURRY UP. JCL borrowers are suffering & distressed. The next payment is coming soon. COVID didn’t stop them.

1) I called Student Aid today to get an update on the Joint Consolidation Loan Separation Act. They said: "They are working on implementing changes, but do not have a current timeline." I told them it was urgent since payments are not paused for FFEL JCL holders.

In 2001 @SecCardona started his own successful career as a 4th grade teacher. Set to grow minds and change lives. I like to think about those wide-eyed impressionable 10 year olds. They’re probably 30 now and drowning in student debt. He should be so proud. #StudentLoans2022

@SecCardona @Nelnet @usedgov we are still tied to ex-spouses by loans with no action on S1098 allowing them to be separated. @DebtCrisisOrg @SC_DoUsPart @CRLONLINE @EdDebtJustice we need help!
AFord@AFord525

@mstratford Some FFEL borrowers didn’t have option to consolidate into the Direct Loan program to access any federal relief or protections. Congress passed the Joint Consolidation Loan Separation Act S1098 & @POTUS signed into law but @usedgov has done nothing, not even a pause! @SC_DoUsPart

@ewarren Can you please do something about law S1098. Passed in congress and signed into law, yet here we sit with no process in place. Still making monthly payments- no pause- even though should qualified PSLF 10 years ago, & DOE and servicers have done nothing to notify borrowers.

@whereismytrx @arsheffey The Joint Consolidation Loan Separation Act (S1098) to separate from abusers & regain federal protections was signed a month ago & interest accrues daily for these student loans, but @usedgov has done nothing, not even a pause while they figure out their next steps! @SC_DoUsPart

@SarahMe00270827 @SC_DoUsPart @MarkWarner And still, we wait. And still we pay. And yes, still, interest accrues. Any ideas to expedite this and get a payment freeze while it is sorted out? Thank you for your advocacy Senator Warner. @SC_DoUsPart
