VA says outreach saves Veterans. I agree — but follow-through inside VA matters too. I survived 5 suicide attempts while already being seen by VA. As an MST survivor, faith-based mental health treatment is not optional for me. My faith in Jesus is part of how I survive, process trauma, and stay alive. I have repeatedly asked for faith-based / Christian mental health care and was told I have to find my own provider. If I had the mental capacity, stability, transportation, and support to find and coordinate that care alone, I would have already done it. Why are vendor tables operating at the entrance of a VA facility on federal property if proceeds do not support Veterans? I asked one vendor outside Atlanta VA how much is donated to Veterans. I was told none — donations go to St. Jude. I have no issue with St. Jude, but Veterans should not be left thinking purchases at a VA entrance support Veterans if they do not. Exactly. Verbal explanations disappear when the record matters. That is why I keep asking VA to document the current clinical basis, the functional impact, and the safe mobility plan. If a Veteran’s independence and safety are affected, it should be clear in the medical record — not left to guesswork.

Veterans often push for formal record updates, sometimes with private assistance for follow-up and tracking.

I’m a disabled Veteran and wheelchair user fighting VA for safe independent mobility. VA restricted my powerchair to attendant controls, but Neurology says wheelchair control is deferred to PM&R/PT/Prosthetics. Adaptive Sports confirmed I can’t participate in BlazeSports with attendant controls. That means VA’s restriction blocks independence, adaptive sports, community access, and basic mobility. I’m not refusing seizure care. I’m asking for medication safety and a second opinion before starting a new seizure medication that could affect alertness, vision, coordination, driving, and power mobility. Secretary @RepDougCollins, I am a disabled veteran fighting for safe independent mobility after being hit in the VBA crosswalk on Feb. 16, 2025. VA records show Neurology already provided seizure clearance, Neuropsych findings were inconclusive, and Ophthalmology documented vision within driving requirement — yet I remain restricted to attendant-control-only and without a safe workable mobility solution after approximately 15 months. I have spent over $3,000 of my own money trying to keep an unrepairable setup functioning just to access the toilet, appointments, and daily life. This is not comfort. @wwp On Feb. 16, 2025, I was hit by a car in the VBA crosswalk and my VA-issued powerchair was damaged. I should not have been left without safe independent mobility.
