For military veterans, there are worse things than political defeat. Losing an election is survivable. Losing your integrity isn't. Former @BipartisanVets Co-Chair @RepGolden reflects on honoring the fallen through his service in Congress.

Thousands of service members and their families are facing a significant health threat in their homes: mold. Streamlining the process for inspections, compliance, and remediation is a necessary step towards improving the ease of life and overall health of service members and their families. Tell your Member of Congress they must act to pass the MOLD Act, introduced by @BipartisanVets member @RepJimmyPanetta and With Honor Action ally @SenJoniErnst. It's time to put the health of our service members and their families first. mstr.app/96322ad5-d894-…

Rep. Brian Fitzpatrick 🇺🇸
Putin has made clear that he will continue his aggression as long as he believes the cost is bearable. Today, I joined a bipartisan group of colleagues in calling for urgent action to expand American and allied production of air defense and unmanned systems, strengthen our own defense industrial base, and ensure Ukraine has the capabilities it needs to protect its people. My Peace Through Strength Against Russia Act is built on the same principle: raise the cost of aggression. Strengthen sanctions. Close the loopholes. Target the financial networks sustaining Putin’s war. Peace is not secured by weakness or wishful thinking. It is secured by strength, deterrence, and the resolve to make our adversaries understand that aggression will fail. America must lead accordingly. Read our full letter below ⬇️

I was grateful to hear from brave Afghan women students as they shared their stories and the enormous barriers they have faced to pursue an education. The U.S. should continue supporting lawful, well-vetted pathways for them to study here. The disastrous 2021 withdrawal from Afghanistan was especially devastating for Afghan women. Thank you to the Afghan Scout Relief Fund and all who champion Afghan women’s education, freedom and independence.

On the eve of America's 250th birthday, @BipartisanVets member @RepJames honored the men and women who did extraordinary things: courage isn't the absence of fear, it's doing the right thing in spite of it. No one he served with would call themselves a hero, but they served in the company of heroes, making the next right choice to preserve liberty and justice for all.

Few public figures embody the virtue of "courage" like Colonel Theodore Roosevelt, 26th President of the United States and the only U.S. President to be awarded the Medal of Honor. This weekend, at the grand opening of his Presidential Library in Medora, ND, With Honor Co-Founder & CEO @ryebarcott was able to share Courage Can Save US with the Colonel himself, bully!

For the first time in history, the Times Square Ball dropped in July — not December. With Honor Co-Founder and CEO @ryebarcott and senior advisor @ByrdKahlil were on the ground as the Ball dropped to mark 250 years after the Declaration of Independence was signed. With Honor is a proud sponsor of @America250, and we thank the America250 team, led by Chair @RosieRios and EVP Jennifer Condon, for putting together a nationwide celebration not just about America, but about our ethos of service. "From George Washington’s Continental Army to the creation of the U.S. Space Force, every generation has had brave servicemembers answer the call to serve, not because it is easy, but because America is worth defending." Reflections on America's 250th birthday this July 4th from former @BipartisanVets Vice Chair, Army veteran, and one of the last three Vietnam veterans in Congress @RepJimBaird. washingtonreporter.news/rep-jim-baird-…

"The biggest question today isn’t whether the vision of liberty and self-governance in the Declaration of Independence is still relevant, but whether we can sustain the robust culture of civic virtue that has always been necessary for it." Thanks @TRPresLibrary for your remarkable opening this week, and having @WithHonorAction take part in Medora, North Dakota as part of @America250 Courage, @DorisKGoodwin said in her magnificent opening speech, was the virtue TR most appreciated. He didn’t always have it. He earned it through a strenuous life, and through the example of others, especially his mother and father, who each died before their 50th birthdays. TR’s two years in what Edmund Morris called the “craggy immensity” of the Badlands changed him. Here, in the vastness of this land and following the tragic deaths of his wife and mother within the same 12 hours, he found “an ambition larger than self — to make a difference in the lives of others.” We discussed this and more with @SenKevinCramer, who played an instrumental role in establishing the Library on a butte overlooking the Badlands, and @gillibrandny, who shared that TR was her favorite president growing up, and that Edmund Morris’s biography was among the first books to captivate her about his life of service—and to propel hers. A Republican from North Dakota and a Democrat from New York, together on one stage, taking up what TR’s legacy asks of us today. As Ted Roosevelt V noted in his introduction, conversations like these matter: both sides, in public, engaging the questions that divide us rather than talking past one another. Disagreement is not our problem. Contempt is. A republic depends on citizens willing to argue in good faith and still see one another as fellow Americans. A full recording is here, beginning with Ted Roosevelt V’s intro at the 26-minute mark: youtube.com/live/kokgw1ZTB… This conversation was produced by the Good Citizen podcast, hosted by Ted Roosevelt V — follow @TRPresLibrary for more info, and sign up to follow more Good Citizen content in your podcast app.

Honored to join @gillibrandny as a panelist to discuss Theodore Roosevelt’s legacy in government today. His courage, commitment to conservation and focus on a square deal for all still resonate today.

For the 200,000 service members who transition out of active duty every year, the valuable skills the military teaches are sometimes lost in translation. Helping service members translate their expertise and expanding their access to job placement assistance and career counseling through the Transition Assistance programs means higher veteran success and a more robust workforce. With Honor Action is proud to endorse @BipartisanVets Vice Chair @RepLaLota and @JohnMannionNY22's Next Mission Act, which will partner nonprofit organizations with the DoD to provide high-quality employment services at no cost to our service members and their spouses. mannion.house.gov/media/press-re…

The current broken gerrymandering system draws out extremes in our political system, and further polarizes Congress. “Safe,” uncompetitive districts reward the loudest voices in a primary, not the ones willing to work across the aisle. With Honor Action applauds @ProbSolveCaucus, @RepBrianFitz, and @RepTomSuozzi for putting forward a bipartisan framework to reform gerrymandering and restore trust in our systems and elected officials to work for all Americans.
Problem Solvers Caucus@ProbSolveCaucus

As America marks its 250th anniversary, the Problem Solvers Caucus is proud to unveil our bipartisan Gerrymandering Reform Framework to strengthen trust in our democracy. The framework includes four bipartisan reforms to create a more transparent, fair, and representative congressional redistricting process nationwide. Our proposal is built on a simple premise: voters should choose their representatives, not the other way around, and achieving that requires both parties to be part of the solution.

Physical courage is easy to recognize. Moral courage is harder to see. It's choosing to speak openly about struggle, and to work alongside someone different from you to do something about it. Two veterans. Two parties. One hotline that's saved countless lives. If you or someone you know needs support, call or text 988.
Rye Barcott@ryebarcott

Today is the last day of PTSD Awareness Month. In Courage Can Save US, @RepMoulton shares how he decided to talk about his own struggles with PTSD, and his effort to partner with another veteran from the opposing party to create the @988Lifeline. Courage isn't only found on the battlefield. Sometimes it's found in the decision to ask for help— or to be there for someone else. During PTSD Awareness Month, I hope we remember that no one should have to carry these burdens alone. If you or someone you know needs support, call or text 988.

Last week, With Honor gathered at the Library of Congress to celebrate the launch of @ryebarcott's Courage Can Save US. It’s our hope that the stories in the book inspire more Americans to find purpose through service and remind all of us that courage can shape our lives as well. A special thank you to The Washington Post’s @IgnatiusPost, William E. Conway, Jr., and Fox News’s @JenGriffinFNC for moderating and leading conversations on courage with panelists @RepDanCrenshaw, @SenToddYoung, @RepGolden, @RepJames, @RepDonBacon, @RepBrianFitz

Our CEO and cofounder @ryebarcott taped @ThisWeekABC two weeks ago with @jonkarl. Thanks to @MarthaRaddatz for helping make it happen. Martha's latest book, The Hero Next Door, is an outstanding collection of post-9/11 veteran profiles. She was unexpectedly called to the Middle East on assignment before our taping, and her colleague Jonathan Karl graciously stepped in to conduct the interview. We recorded it in a Senate conference room near the offices of @SenToddYoung and @SenMarkKelly who are working together on the SHIPS Act to revitalize American shipbuilding (with support from @WithHonorAction.)

The most remarkable story of redemption I came across in my years writing Courage Can Save US. “If I put on one hand the people I care most about in this world,” ex-convict, former NY State Assemblyman, and onetime prospective candidate for Mayor of NYC Brian McLaughlin told me early one morning in 2025 at a Starbucks in Manhattan. It had been nearly 19 years since then Special Agent Brian Fitzpatrick put McLaughlin behind bars, ending his political career and beginning a chapter of covert cooperation with the FBI that would eventually help bring down Sheldon Silver, the powerful Speaker of the New York State Assembly, and scores of others across organized crime and politics. “There’s my mutha, my fatha, my brutha, my kids, and there’s Brian Fitzpatrick.”
Rep. Brian Fitzpatrick 🇺🇸@RepBrianFitz

Nearly twenty years ago, Brian McLaughlin and I met under circumstances neither of us could have imagined would one day lead to friendship. I was a young FBI Special Agent in New York City, working my first field assignment. Brian was the Subject of the FBI public corruption case I was assigned to investigate. He was ultimately arrested, convicted, and sentenced to ten years in prison. That is where many people would have ended the story. But our country, at its best, has always believed in something larger than a person’s worst chapter. It believes in accountability, but also in redemption. It believes in consequences, but also in grace. It believes that lives can be rebuilt when truth is faced with courage. Last night, I had the honor of sitting down with Brian—now my friend, and someone who attended my wedding just last weekend—to tell that story together. Brian has said that I changed his life. The truth is, he changed mine, too. Thank you to my friend, @WithHonorAction Founder @ryebarcott , for profiling me in your inspiring new book. Courage can, in fact, save us.
