@Jwf1776 @YIMBYLAND No, AI datacenters aren't important, all they do is store information of civilians and poison the local water supply.

Which data center do you think was used to make this image?

HOCHUL ENACTS NATION’S FIRST STATEWIDE DATA CENTER MORATORIUM
English

@Bibbyeozp @YIMBYLAND Not really. But it is more about the corporate and income tax revenue they will miss out on. Upstate NY is dying.
English

@YIMBYLAND And before you mention property tax, New York can build literally anything else that can generate property tax revenue that doesn’t also make life more expensive for New Yorkers
English

@ryanssking1 @Bibbyeozp @YIMBYLAND It is fine if states want to ban them. They will lose out in the long run. Concerns over electricity and water will resolve themselves as the technology become mainstream.
English

@Bibbyeozp @YIMBYLAND So you admit data centers are part of interstate commerce and therefore states shouldn’t have the power to ban them in their states. Thanks for clarifying.
English

@Bibbyeozp @YIMBYLAND Texas will get the tax revenue, the infrastructure investment and high paying skilled jobs. Meanwhile NY will continue to hemorrhage taxpayers.
English

@YIMBYLAND Let me explain something YIMBYLAND refuses to acknowledge
You can literally build every single data center in Texas and New Yorkers will still benefit from them exactly the same. And Texans will be paying for the energy.
Why would anyone want a data center in their state?
English

@YIMBYLAND So these jobs and tax revenue will go to other states.
English

@Francis_Watts @sircalebhammer When the Millionaires and Billionaires leave the city, the city will have to raise taxes on those that remain to maintain their budget.
If that is what New Yorkers want, go for it. Just stay in New York when it all falls apart.
English

I get the logic behind Caleb's perspective. Obviously, the city now has less money to pay for all the additional services they have promised.
But it is also a bit like saying illegal immigration is good because it lowers the prices of the things we buy.
There is an economic question, and there is a moral question. While it's economically bad, fuck these assholes. New York should be a place for New Yorkers, not a playground for billionaires.
I guess the thing is, you can't do both; you can't both stop relying on billionaires for revenue and offer more services. If you stop being funded by billionaires, you also have to get frugal about your expenses. But thats not how you get elected.

@Geek_Wadeg @Concupiscible26 @Sierra_rak The core failure is the centralization of power. All institutions and system become corrupt and inefficient over time. However when you centralize power, it happens faster and the impact is greater.
English

@Concupiscible26 @Sierra_rak If we're talking about the idea, no. Socialism was supposed to put everyone in control, but it quickly became a 1% controlled everything. People usurp power as soon as they get it. That's why capitalism works-people fight each other instead of taking over the whole system.
English

@NientaiHo @Concupiscible26 @Sierra_rak That assumes Humanity is an actual thing. There are Billions of people with different Cultures, Languages, Religions, Socio-Economic Status'. There are few common interests.
English

@Concupiscible26 @Sierra_rak That's why aim for Humanity's best interest instead

@EricLDaugh Just imaging that money going to the actual causes they support instead of elections.

🚨 JUST IN: It's just been announced that the Senate GOP has nearly *DOUBLE* the 2026 campaign cash on-hand than Senate Democrats
JOHN THUNE-ALIGNED: $238 MILLION 🤯
CHUCK SCHUMER-ALIGNED: $126 MILLION
Hey Thune — HIT HARD and make it count by passing the SAVE America Act and secure elections!
That quarter of a BILLION dollars goes a long way when Democrats can't cancel it out with fraud!
Make no mistake: Schumer WILL be shutting the government down heading into the midterms to surge turnout.
Nuke the filibuster and destroy them 🔥🔥

@WesternLensman @shawnpisteySC You cannot believe otherwise. Without force, socialism and communism do not work.

DSA's Ashik Siddique: Our goal is "to replace capitalism with socialism." "That power is not conceded without struggle." This is the Democrat party 'Big Tent' we keep hearing about.
English

@WesternLensman He would need a constitutional amendment. There are 45 Democrats in the Senate. They would not give up their power.
English

@RealXBailey @Notwokenow We should go back to where the state appointed the Senators for their state.
English

@Notwokenow One change to your post:
Make the House limited to two 4 year terms, running concurrently with the Presidential election, 8 yrs total.
Having an election every 24 months for all 435 members is ridiculous.

If the U.S. taxed personal income in the same way that Denmark does, all income over $82,000 would be taxed at over 55 percent.

@TaxFoundation Well I pay $3,000 for health insurance premiums, $5,000 out of pocket, $1,000 for prescriptions per year, so… that would come back
English

@TaxFoundation And ignoring the massive welfare increase we'd see. Here's the secret Tax Foundation is mandated to not talk about.
Tax Foundation wants wealth, not living standards.
Secret to taxation is simple. Tax when further increases in income no longer contribute to quality of life.
English

@TaxFoundation I already pay 30%+ of my income in taxes. If I had to pay that I would probably quit my job and get a lower paying less stressful one.

@MapleStax Financing isn't always avoidable. If you can pay in cash, do so. If you cannot, get a reasonable car.
