This is very disturbing for me. Dustin Burrows has betrayed the Republican Party and all Republican voters in a way I've never seen before. First, he literally stole the speaker election from the Republican caucus, and then shortly after, he basically slapped Republican representatives in the face with the sham process to ram the Rules package through without discussion or debate. He told one representative that I know of that if he wanted a seat at the table, he wold have to sit down, be quiet, and do what he was told. Fortunately that representative said no thank you. I'm not ready to just let bygones be bygones. Unless Mr. Burrows is ready to apologize and ask forgiveness, (which he won't), I will not listen to what he has to say at convention. He can't just buy back favor with a large donation. And - yes - I'm aware that under his tenure, 43 RPT priority bills passed. That's great. But has anyone counted how many were left on the table? Pretty sure it's more than 43!

However this rests on the fact that Burrows has faced NO accountability for torching TexasGOP rules, colluding with Democrats and all the rest...
He's not just some honest Republican legislator... and, respectfully, you know that. That he is able to BUY a sponsorship after colluding with Democrats to overthrow the Texas GOP is insulting to about 65% of Texas conservative voters.
There's a lot rotten in Texas GOP... and it's about time we started saying & doing something about that.

The grassroots, the RPT, and Scorecard’s influencers and adjacent groups used to be pretty untied in their messaging. Now you got RPT lawyers running paid ads against Republicans they used to glorify, grassroots groups losing their mind over Speaker Burrows sponsoring the RPT convention, and former Scorecard influencers still pushing old messaging because they no longer have marching orders. It’s a complete shitshow and this is all going on while Republicans are getting destroyed in elections.

Maybe, instead of beating Republicans over the head all the time, calling Republicans Democrats when they disagree on a singular issue, and try advocating and educating on policy, maybe, just maybe, it would have turned out different.
Don’t blame the voters… you get the government you deserve and that heavily weighs on the active players in the arena. If voters stayed home or flipped, that means your message didn’t resonate. Go figure, negativity and vitriol wasn’t a winning play. Take a good hard look in the mirror. #Txlege

I appreciate you for highlighting this. This motivated me to write a clarification bill for the next TX legislative session. Unfortunately, I think the confusion, of which you and I agree, is surrounding “depiction”. I believe many feel as though “depiction” based on other terms in the law surrounding this issue means a “depiction” of a real child. I think it should be applied as, “depiction” of a child [regardless if the caricature depicted is based on a real child or not]. Huge loophole pedo-protectors may be using to subvert the law. Keep fighting the good fight 💪🏼
