@svpino I think in general storage is cheaper and it’s better to just set two fields, the boolean and the date it was last updated, if you need that data

@svpino counter argument that comes to mind is this could harm query performance instead of querying for true you have to query for not null or type is date, which can be more expensive, especially when querying across several fields

Use timestamps in your database instead of booleans. Null if false, timestamp if true. Now you know exactly when that field was set. You’re welcome.

2.5 years, $52,000 MRR and we still can't get our analytics to work consistently Every 4 - 6 weeks there's an issue with the setup, tracking, or reporting An issue that undermines my trust in our data We've tried Posthog, we've tried Segment, we've tried our ESP, we've tried pulling data directly from the database All I want is one source of truth from which I can make informed marketing decisions Maybe my mistake is expecting our reports to be > 80% accurate But if anyone can recommend an analytics person who can check the integrity of our setup and get things working consistently, please tag them 🙏

⚠️ So @cannyHQ has made it literally impossible for customers to cancel their subscription To downgrade or cancel your subscription, they force you to contact their support: "We'd love to know why your current plan isn't working for you. Please contact support to downgrade." But their support is an AI bot that won't let you cancel your subscription! Nice catch-22, and 100% illegal in the US and EU: This tactic is usually used by companies who are losing MRR and try to force customers to stay. It's horrible and illegal but it works: the harder you make it to cancel, the lower % your churn goes, but of course all for the wrong reasons: Recently the @FTC has implemented the “Click-to-Cancel” rule, mandating that businesses make canceling subscriptions as straightforward as signing up. This rule prohibits companies from requiring consumers to contact support to cancel and applies to most subscription services I hate doing business with these kinds of companies So I'm switching all my bug boards to @FeaturebaseHQ, they've been super responsive and don't use shady tactics like this

@levelsio @cannyHQ @FTC Your subscription is cancelled so we don't show a cancel button. You won't be billed again. It says "Expiring: Nov 23, 2024". It has never been impossible for customers to cancel or downgrade a Canny subscription. I'd appreciate it if we can stick to facts here.

@arjunquera @levelsio @cannyHQ He's completely wrong about the AI bot. There's a button that says "talk to a person" and it connects you with a human. Our average response time is minutes during biz hours.

@KhushiLunkad @levelsio @cannyHQ Thanks for the kind words! We shipped a self-service cancellation flow yesterday. You've got it exactly right, this was the original flow in 2017 and we had a task to improve this and didn't prioritize it correctly – that's on us.

@levelsio @cannyHQ I've been a customer of Canny. @a13n and team reduced prices at one point which is unheard of so it's not malicious intent. Maybe they didn't prioritize the cancel flow. Andrew, FTC's rule goes into effect in 6 months and applies to trials too. Take a look at Churnkey :)

@a13n @cannyHQ I'm not the person for X drama or fights, but I think it's shameful to have Adobe-style hostile cancel flows to try keep customers on It should be shamed every single time a company like yours makes it hard to cancel a subscription Luckily now the @FTC has rules about it
