@FeverPotomac 2/3 of DC's $22 billion is spent on social service, education, and public safety. The problem isn't any lack of funding; it's policies & programs that perpetuate the status quo, failing to move people from poverty to middle-class.

You and @councilofdc continue to sink into a hole of baloney Your plan eliminated $593M in tax cuts DC residents and businesses deserved after years of blockbuster budgets According to the Post, the cost of the EITC and child tax credit = $239M So really a $354M revenue grab so you and other CMs can crow about this while taking tax benefits away from all taxpayers with the standard deduction, seniors and workers. The amateurish budgeting creating new 8 & 9 figure spending and tax expenditure programs with one year funding gimmicks gotta go yesterday Time to live in the reality of revenue growing healthily, but that won’t ever meet the non-profit industrial complex revenue generator class’ desires

Thank you, @ChrisVanHollen, for pointing out that decoupling allowed the Council to provide families the Child Tax Credit and the earned income tax credit expansion. You’re right, Congress’ proposed action is a TAX INCREASE on nearly 80,000 families and children. Thank you.
Senator Chris Van Hollen@ChrisVanHollen

While Republicans are refusing to lift a finger to help families across the country make ends meet, they've decided to micromanage the DC tax code & raise taxes on thousands of families in DC. What an embarrassment. I'm on the floor now, calling this out: twitter.com/i/broadcasts/1…

Wow. For the second time, Congress has issued a bipartisan REBUKE of the @councilofdc’s criminal justice agenda. An embarrassing outcome after Councilmembers supposedly lobbied congressional offices for the past few weeks.

Real talk: Democrats should just admit that some politicians have been way too lenient in releasing dangerous criminals from prison these last few years. Just a few of the crimes committed by people they let out early: - Violent assault - Sexual assault of a child - Solicitation of a minor - Possession of child pornography - Domestic abuse - Aggravated DUI and reckless homicide - Attempted murder - Stalking - Burglary

Hopefully DC media can find out the prior charges and if @DCAttorneyGen did anything to hold them accountable. "police were able to identify the teen suspects as 17-year-old Kelvin Thomas Jr. and 17-year-old Jailen Lucas, who have been charged with violent crimes before."
NBC4 Washington@nbcwashington

Two teens accused of fatally shooting a congressional intern appeared in court Saturday and are being held without bond. nbc4dc.com/q4Zr9SK

The Abundance crowd has no solution for this. You can have nice public transport but people won’t ride on it if insane mentally ill people will murder you on it for no reason. This is why we need to combine Abundance with Lee Kuan Yew Thought: extremely harsh penalties for crime and public disorder. Dark Abundance.

There is not a single solitary bum in or around Union Station. I have never seen this in my life. Extraordinary what can be accomplished with supposedly intractable problems if you just ditch the idiocy.

We literally had Uber drivers driving around with Kevlar shields in their cars to protect themselves from violent criminals. The @councilofdc called it “not a crime crisis.” Now that crime is finally dropping, they’re angry about it. You can’t make this up.

How can anyone be angry about this?

D.C. Mayor Bowser: We "greatly appreciate" the surge. "The difference between this 20-day period of this federal surge and last year represents a 87% reduction in carjackings" in the city, she says, adding that "neighborhoods feel safer and are safer" because of it.

@maustermuhle Nice way to complain about something that’s a positive for the city. This is why democrats are losing. If you complain about everything it all just becomes noise. Pick your battles.

What's interesting about this, of course, is what it will ultimately cost the federal government to put National Guardsmen to work picking up trash, painting benches, and doing other related tasks. Couldn't unarmed locals have been hired to do the work for less money?
NBC4 Washington@nbcwashington

National Guard troops deployed in D.C. will pick up trash and work on dozens of “beautification and restoration” projects, officials said. “It feels good to be out here cleaning streets, making D.C. beautiful again," a member and Southeast native said. nbc4dc.com/sRUU9uV

@DCAttorneyGen If your policies are “data-driven,” then the data shows failure—repeat offenders cycling through (incl. the kids who carjacked my husband) while victims are ignored and disregarded. DC families and businesses deserve accountability, not ideological excuses dressed up as stats.

@BarrasReport Public safety is a choice, and the council and city leaders have chosen to cater to crazed activists instead of properly staffing the police or putting in place laws to hold people accountable.

No American who believes in & cherishes democracy should think of what DJT is doing as a takeover of DC's police. He has affected the first stage of a national military coup, replete with armed National Guards. It's time for citizens, who care & who can, to move into the streets
