For the 1st time ever, Delhi Police is filing FIRs for driving on the wrong side of the road. No more just paying a Rs 5,000 fine and moving on; offenders are now being booked under Section 281 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita for rash driving. The two cases were recently registered in Delhi Cantonment and Kapashera. This shift comes after 3.05 lakh cases were reported in 2025 alone. Since traditional challans haven't acted as a sufficient deterrent, the police are now resorting to criminal charges to save lives on the road. If you are caught, your vehicle could be seized immediately, and you could face up to 6 months in prison. Because an FIR is registered, the violation cannot be settled through a simple online payment. You will have to physically visit the police station and appear before a magistrate in court to secure bail and get your vehicle released. @NalinisKitchen First of all, footpath is not for selling vegetables also. And yes many places footpath is encroached by so called poor (sorry many arent) for selling vegetables. Footpath is for parking and selling vegetables - neither will be penalised. But yes pedestrians may be fined

A poor person cannot sell vegetables on the footpath for a living, but a rich person can park his car there.

@surajv369 @WFRising It's regular or not, it's our duty to dispose garbage in proper way. Said that there shud be some proper guidelines and collection process so tat ppl dnt throw garbage anywhere. Apart from daily waste, there is hardly any info on disposing construction waste, paint, furniture etc

Dumping of garbage happens as pickup is not regularised. Unless a solution is provided, this will continue.

@surajv369 @WFRising I understand. If collection happen at same timing, same day, yes somehow can be planned. But there is no timings for collection. Bbmp must have atleast collection center, I will more than happy to go and hand over the garbage.

@WFRising BBMP can't come multiple times a day just because people work in different times right?? People need to figure out the timings and do the arrangements. This is just plain laziness and they know bbmp won't penalize them and they won't get caught !! Civic sense is zero !!
