Just shows how valuable Cogent‘s assets are. The first re-rate will happen when 2027 notes get refinanced (no more bs risk). Second re-rate will happen when more DCs get sold. Third re-rate will happen when (high margin) wavelength revenue goes vertical (just like in the case of LITE). Cherry on top would be a buyout offer, big customer deal etc.

I‘m just wondering why they don’t close the damn deal or, if it’s only due to administrative reasons, not even release a statement to calm the market. The company’s communication is just as bad as the CEO‘s. It‘s obvious to everyone that the market punishes the sp every day that passes without a statement of deal closing or debt refinancing. It‘s incredibly frustrating that mgmt doesn‘t see the need to address this.

@GoodHouseCap because $ccoi needs growth to grow out of their excessive leverage but it is unclear whether they have the means to fund the necessary growth as capex is skyrocketing for them and they are cash flow negative

True. It‘s absolutely silly that it‘s down 82% from aths, basically at the same level as in 2013. The re-rate will be glorious. One of those stocks that everyone will chase at the top and no one wants to own now.
Technically: Strong RSI divergence & weekly and monthly DSS Bressert close to a bullish cross. One of my highest conviction plays in the market right now.

@alphacenC @FerdSoler @RecurveCapital Agree on all points. I was poorly arguing the debt restructure is already in process but the business still needs to work. Need the DC sale proceeds to begin rerate from current position. Nothing helps $ccoi more than a rapidly accelerating waves business.

Least interesting part? $CCOI must refinance their 2027 notes asap, market treats it as a bankrupt business. This is the biggest near term catalyst and can‘t happen soon enough. Wavelength revenue is up 90% YoY, although from a small base, and will meaningfully contribute to top and bottom line growth going forward. Positive revenue mix trends (Stable legacy business, growing wavelength, declining junk Sprint revenue) will push fundamentals higher next quarters. Do you know who this reminds me of (positive revenue trends buried under ugly headline numbers)? $LITE in 2024. $CCOI is a multibagger in the making, but first they must fix the balance sheet.

Real question is does Waves business meaningfully accelerate? Distressed debt is least interesting part of $ccoi

End of “just buy the index w/o analysis, you’ll get rich” passive investing is when trillions of massive loss making companies get hoisted upon all indexed assets during peak valuations (ala ‘29 and ‘00) due to peak bubble capex (with very short useful lives unlike long-lived fiber/railroads).
