Bad news from Dartmoor. This is not being done to protect the environment and I do not believe that the vast majority of wild campers leave 'needles, condoms or shit' on the land they use lightly. It's control by a minority in receipt of vast public largesse. Very wrong.

Attended a 5ft blue shark (P. glauca) stranding with @BDMLR in Cornwall. I have been on the scene since 9:30am, and it has been continuously stranding itself since then (video next tweet). It is now low tide and have havent seen it in over an hour, so hopefully it’s gone!

Can't believe I just saw this, @SouthernWater spokesperson on @GMB telling customers "You then need to use your judgement on whether you feel it's safe to go swimming or not". So it's up to you if you want to go swimming in a load of sewage, not our problem. WOW! @HugoSAS

Recent droughts in Europe once again made visible the "Hunger Stones" in some Czech and German rivers. These stones were used to mark desperately low river levels that would forecast famines. This one, in Elbe river, is from 1616 and says: "If you see me, cry" #archaeohistories

BREAKING: Major leak from oil pipeline in Ecuador's Amazon happening in real time. Saw many of these in @Chevron's oil fields; they were rarely remediated. The oil and gas industry treats our ecosystem like a trash bin. Thanks @AFrontlines for exposing.
