Our circuit breaker panel is responsible for controlling the distribution of electricity to our house. This means the energy coming from burning coal is distributed across our house to power different utilities. #apesenergy @franklinlorax

This lightbulb in my lamp in my room is a newer more efficient LED lightbulb that uses its energy more efficiently towards light rather than heat saving my energy bill and energy use. @franklinlorax #apesenergy

Penny drives a Tesla. No fossil fuel emissions means cleaner air in the dog park & the money saved on gas leads to more treats. 😋 🐶 @franklinlorax #apesenergy

The size of the rock depends on how well air and water flow through the rock. This is called porosity. A rock with more particles will normally be more porous and a rock with less particles will be less porous. #apesland @franklinlorax

Phoebe loves going outside and catching mice which is why having public wetlands in our backyard gives her a great place to explore😸 @franklinlorax #apesland

most of us live in low-density housing, this is where houses are more spread out & have more roads reducing the valuable land, we call these subdivisions. high-density housing is better since this is using less land, has less roads, and more apartments. @franklinlorax #apesland

Here is my (dying) plant that I keep in my room. If you look closely, you canseetheorganic material in the soil. Humus is organic material (once-living) and breaks down into soil, which can include roots and sticks. The humus also provides a rustic look. #apesland @franklinlorax

Penny overheard me studying plate interactions & thought I’d need these. Really I was studying what causes tsunamis & earthquakes: slips/ pops at boundaries. Looks like fat P just wanted something to lick off my plate😋 🐾 #apesland @franklinlorax

Although at the moment it is under about a foot and a half of snow, one way that my family reduces our ecological footprint is through maintaining a small garden in our backyard. This helps reduce carbon emissions from food transportation. #apespop @franklinlorax

Wearing a reusable mask instead of a disposable mask helps reduce waste and minimize my ecological footprint. @franklinlorax #apespop

In my Vietnamese culture, people eat chay (or vegan) a few days a month - typically the 14th and the 15th of each month. These cultural practices are tied to Buddhism. Now if everybody became vegetarian, we could feed 10X more people on Earth. @franklinlorax #Apespop

Keltie’s family has 4 kids which is more than the average family so they need more resources than the average family. Julia’s family has 2 kids which is average so they take up less resources and don’t have as big of a ecological footprint. #apespop @franklinlorax

During lunch I buy a recyclable bottle so it can be remade into other bottles, therefore reducing my carbon footprint. @franklinlorax #apespop

#apeseco @franklinlorax Indy is a k-strategist. Disturbances to her ecosystem would be a huge problem because she is a specialist as well.

Wisconsin is in the Temperate Deciduous Forest biome, but a lot of the trees and forest area was cleared out to make room for our homes, and like my backyard shown in the picture. @franklinlorax #apeseco

Franklin's biome is a temperate seasonal forest, meaning that we need to keep the heat up in our homes as it gets colder during the winter! #apeseco @franklinlorax

here is a perfect example of a k-strategist. maisy is an english retriever who is just growing out of her puppy stage. she has a longer lifespan than r-strategists and can only produce few offspring! @franklinlorax #apeseco

There are things you can do at home to increase supplies of freshwater! You can change your personal habits... Today, when I washed my dishes, I made sure to turn the water off when it wasn't needed. This conserves so much water. @franklinlorax #apeswater
