Cars need gasoline as fuel in order to operate, which is one of the many products created from crude oil. Crude oil is a fossil fuel that turns into many useful materials, such as Naptha which is used to make plastics, medicines, and synthetic products. @franklinlorax #apesenergy

Since I live in Franklin, this light is being powered by a coal fire plant. The coal is burned to heat up water which turns into steam, which flows into a turbine, which turns a generator, producing electricity. #apesenergy @franklinlorax

One way I conserve or save energy is by turning off lights, TVs, and unnecessary things plugged in that can save or conserve energy! If everyone does this then we can save so much energy! @franklinlorax #apesenergy

The size of the rock depends on how well air and water flow through the rock. This is called porosity. A rock with more particles will normally be more porous and a rock with less particles will be less porous. #apesland @franklinlorax

@Dru73586072 @franklinlorax Clear cutting is a bad way to clear a forest. Hopefully some different trees were planted to try to keep it sustainable.

When trees in my backyard were cut down last summer, clear cut method was used to remove an area of the forest. This causes negative effects on the environment with a decrease in biodiversity, oxygen being put into the air, and increased erosion. @franklinlorax #apesland

@MJ518064apes @franklinlorax This is a good example of how soils can have too much or too little of different materials. You must have done a good job changing it.

clearly, our soil’s tests did not go so well. so, we added different ingredients to improve levels of nitrogen, phosphorus, potassium, and the acidity of the soil to increase the plant’s chances at survival @franklinlorax #apesland btw our radishes the tallest atm@VincentJanisze2

@UnlessCKCares @franklinlorax This is a great example that almost every plant needs a slightly different kind of soil and it allows them to grow better.

This forest pictured is an example of an old-growth forest because the trees showed are over 100 years old based on their characteristics. This means that this forest has never been logged before and this shows good management! @franklinlorax #apesland

This is where my family grows a vegetable garden in the summer. Just like the radishes we grew in class, the soil here needs to have a specific amount of potassium, phosphates, nitrates as well as a specific pH in order to grow the vegetables we plant. @franklinlorax #apesland

There are many different sizes and shapes of rocks. As water flows through them, we are able to identify these sizes through their porosity, permeability, and water retention. #apesland @franklinlorax

@franklinlorax #apespop If everyone lived like me we would need 3.8 Earths to provide enough resources. In order to try to reduce my ecological footprint I am going to try to eat more vegetables and carpool more often.

If everyone lived like me we would use 4.8 Earths worth of resources. Knowing that we only have one Earths worth of resources I need to make some changes. I have decided that I am going to try to carpool more and try to use less electricity! @franklinlorax #apespop

By using this reusable coffee mug for different sorts of drinks, I can cut down on my ecological footprint by not using plastic water bottles every time I am thirsting for some H2O wasting less resources @franklinlorax #apespop

I have 6 people in my family which is over the average amount of people per family so we need more resources than others. @franklinlorax #apespop
