@NadiaWhittomeMP When is the Centre actually going to be built and where are the staff to run it coming from including the most important Radiologists without whom it won't achieve anything?

@thinkdefence I am still a bit bewildered as to what the immediate threat was from Iran and what prompted the US and Israel to act so quickly? Certainly the rest of the world wasn't ready for the economic shock waves that have occurred since it started. Maybe this was the plan all along?

Whatever happens in the Gulf, think it is a reasonable prediction that gulf states will increasingly arm themselves, harden infrastructure, and where at all possible, diversify routes to bypass the Strait of Hormuz. I know the current prevailing view is that Iran has won strategically, but that might be only in the medium term. Thus, India and China become even more exposed to strait closure risk, not from Iran, but the Gulf States and USA. Route diversion may be eye wateringly expensive and not 100% feasible, but there is no way Iran will be allowed this much leverage over the global economy again.

First-rate documentary - one of the best in the series. The 'nuclear capable' submarine was bit over sold, but otherwise great insight into life on a Type 23 and RN at work.

Tonight on @channel5_tv at 8pm - Warship: Life in the Royal Navy. @katehumble on board @HMSIronDuke as they monitored the damaged Russian submarine RFS Novorossiysk passing through UK waters on her way home from the Mediterranean in October 2025.

@JohannaBaxter Please get your statement correct. You are capping the cost of a written prescription NOT the cost of the medication being prescribed. Most pet meds are far cheaper to order from an online animal chemist but you need the written script to order them.

De-escalation won't change the challenges of a region suffering from long-term political turmoil. The best way the govt could commit to lowering your bills is to make guarantees about the future available power. Only nuclear can do that. And coal.
Bernie@Artemisfornow

This is misinformation from Reeves. The UK government could lower energy bills tomorrow by reducing the 78% tax on extra profits of oil and gas companies. And scrapping carbon levies, Net Zero contributions, and renewable subsidies on your bills! They could fix it … they just won’t.

@asctty @eng_dad Simple. Things like wind turbines that wear out and have to be 'renewed' - using huge quantities of money and oil.

@bosicle17 The jobs would be absolutely amazing. High value engineering expertise. Top of the tree of skills. Not to mention the marine and transport industries plus refining. What we actually killed was proper jobs and optimism.

I keep seeing responses to UK restarting north sea oil/fracking would have no effect here as it goes on the open market. But wouldn't that mean more oil supply on the market (so lower market prices) & also increases in corporate taxation plus jobs from those companies?
