Fantastic news. I’m pleased to say that Nottingham’s Broad Marsh community diagnostic centre will be expanded to include new CT and MRI scanners.

@thinkdefence I am still a bit bewildered as to what the immediate threat was from Iran and what prompted the US and Israel to act so quickly? Certainly the rest of the world wasn't ready for the economic shock waves that have occurred since it started. Maybe this was the plan all along?

This, by the way, is just an opinion. I am not a geopolitical or energy analyst, so freely admit I could be talking nonsense.

Whatever happens in the Gulf, think it is a reasonable prediction that gulf states will increasingly arm themselves, harden infrastructure, and where at all possible, diversify routes to bypass the Strait of Hormuz. I know the current prevailing view is that Iran has won strategically, but that might be only in the medium term. Thus, India and China become even more exposed to strait closure risk, not from Iran, but the Gulf States and USA. Route diversion may be eye wateringly expensive and not 100% feasible, but there is no way Iran will be allowed this much leverage over the global economy again.

Honestly, the last week was quite stressful because it made me realise that almost everyone thinking renewables are the answer right now or even in the near future are clearly mad. Its over. The UK is screwed.

@bosicle17 The jobs would be absolutely amazing. High value engineering expertise. Top of the tree of skills. Not to mention the marine and transport industries plus refining. What we actually killed was proper jobs and optimism.

I keep seeing responses to UK restarting north sea oil/fracking would have no effect here as it goes on the open market. But wouldn't that mean more oil supply on the market (so lower market prices) & also increases in corporate taxation plus jobs from those companies?
