⚾ Every July I take on a fun little baseball research project. The question this year: If the Home Run Derby isn't played like a normal baseball game, why would I handicap it like one? I analyzed 3 years of Statcast data vs. offspeed pitches, focusing on HR per Ball in Play (HR/BIP) and Launch Speed, then built a three-player Dutch betting portfolio. Since 2019, that portfolio has included the eventual Derby champion in 5 of the last 6 years. Whether it cashes tonight or not, I love this approach—and hopefully you'll enjoy the research too. Breaking: The #Dodgers and Giants are in agreement on a trade that will send INF Luis Arraez to Los Angeles, sources tell Fax Sports. The Giants will receive OF Mike Sirota and OF/1B James Tibbs III in return. Arraez is expected to fill a super-utility role for the Dodgers, moving around the diamond while providing another high-contact bat to an already loaded lineup. Official announcement expected pending medical review.

@VegasChump @grpwins @FezzikSports In college football, the only 3-Unit/Star plays I have now are on my season win totals (6-3-2) but historically (since '99) the 3-Star or more College Football plays are 55.9%, the 2-Unit plays are 54.6%, the 1-Unit plays are 54.7% and the 0.5 Unit plays are 53.7%.

I really like the @DrBobSports bet sizing: 1,2,3 unit plays. Obviously, the VAST majority of plays will be lower edges plays at 1/2 units...... Many disagree with me, but I strongly feel that should be the industry standard. Then you can bet based on that: Kelly Criterion "1 pct per unit" 1/2 Kelly "1/2 pct per unit" 1/4 Kelly Ultra Conservative ("1/4 pct per unit). If you have a big underdog, aok to make that .5 unit play.
