When Canadians sing “We stand on guard for thee” — I think Canadians mean it. And I hope that’s what we can leave this meeting committing to, as premiers, in this crucial moment for our country.

@gljsauer @BlairKing_ca @nbennett_ca Very much like TMX. Just playing to his base. And burning $30 billion or so in the process. Better part of thousand bucks for every man woman & child in Canada.

To be fair Bob Barker was a lot better looking back then. I don’t blame her for being weak in the knees

"Being part of Canada bring many economic advantages... but it's more than economic benefits, it's social, it's what we are as Canadians, Canadians take of each other." PM Mark Carney lays out what he sees as the benefits for Alberta remaining in Canada.

Guy extrapolated fruit fly breeding to human overpopulation. When that failed he pivoted to climate change. I still like a lot of his old shows, but his scientific objectivity fell victim to activism & PR. Unfortunately not unique.

Canadian state TV news anchor interviewing David Suzuki, asks him about the recent Artemis moon mission, saying isn't this a wonderful example of people being inspired by science? Suzuki says no, it was nothing but a publicity stunt for NASA and SpaceX.

Canada's Goldilocks period for housing was in the early 2000s. Prices we rising, affordability was stable and housing production was steady. Policymakers should look back to that time to see what was working. Or, maybe those conditions will re-emerge on their own.

@StrangerJosh11 @GSpellchecker A big Mac combo meal was like $2.50 in the 80's. Even considering inflation - it was cheap. Inconsequential amount even for a high school student.

@GSpellchecker The conflation here is that you're in the UK and hence poor. The US was not in the 80s and 90s and eating out was very common.

This is completely untrue. Growing up working-class in the late 80s and 90s, my parents never bought it for us. The only times I ever set foot in a McDonald’s were for someone else’s birthday party. The housing market is undeniably broken, but at the same time, the number of luxuries this generation now considers basic necessities is on another level entirely.

Boomers seem to forget that fast food used to be a normal, everyday expense for them because it was affordable. You could get a burger easily on minimum wage, it wasn’t some fancy treat you had once a year as a reward for pulling yourself up by your bootstraps.
