@BillWiIdin Tell me you know nothing about how employment works without telling me you know nothing about how employment works.

@5h0na1 Mate, time in the market is better than a time in the market. Tale old as time.

@yonann Using O'Leary's frame of thought you can buy a Fisher Price laptops for $20. People are fucking idiots!
English

Kevin O'Leary says Apple's genius is making people pay 5x more for a laptop they could buy for $350
"you can buy an Apple laptop, average price about $1,800, or you can buy the same functionality for $350 on a Windows laptop"
"but you still pay $1,800. Why? Brand"
"you're paying a 5x multiple in some cases for something that is exactly like a Windows machine"
"I put that out to people, they say, yeah, but it's not an Apple. So there is the genius of Jobs"

@tuftythecat Look I'm a bit crass, but Ira Kleiman is one of the dumbest people in the bitcoin thing. Why people give him credence is beyond me.
English

I didn’t expect this innocuous comment about me reading a book to result in a long-winded discussion with one Wright’s most hated enemies and a massive pile-on by his supporters against me, rather than the supposed enemy. It’s all very strange.
Tufty@tuftythecat
Just finished Faketoshi Volume II (the Kleiman years, largely). A good read, and better than Vol I, I think. I’m expecting Vol III to be even better.

@Asim0v1337 @lauriewired IEEE Annals of History is pretty good and I think ACM has something equivalent

Just hit 500,000 Subscribers!
I never could have imagined (what really is my weekend hobby!) growing this much.
Getting really close to overflowing a signed 20 bit word!
There’s still so, so much to explore in the field of Computer Science. My biggest advice is go make the content that would have inspired a younger you!
No, it’s not my dayjob. As much as I get a kick out of people thinking that I’m some giant private equity production (lol), it’s just me, my small bedroom, and some cameras.
Thanks everyone for the support, I’m excited to keep sharing this field with you all.
Until next time,
LaurieWired out.

@realBigBrainAI Forget the AI crap, he's basically parroting the whole "learn to code" nonsense we saw a few years before AI. Didn't go very well.
English

Andrew Ng, co-founder of Google Brain and Coursera, on the worst career advice being given about AI right now:
He doesn't mince words about what he's hearing from supposed experts:
"As early as earlier this year and certainly last year, there are a few people advising others to stop learning to write code because AI will automate it."
His reasoning is rooted in a historical pattern most people miss:
"As something becomes easier, more people should do it, not fewer. When the world moved from assembly language to COBOL, there were actually articles saying, 'Well, we now have COBOL. Programming is so easier. Looks like we don't need programmers anymore.' But the opposite happened."
Andrew believes the same thing is happening now with AI-assisted coding:
"As we now have AI assisted coding, a lot more people should be coding. And I think the demand for software, custom software, has no practical ceiling. So the cost of software engineering comes down, which it is, we'll just get more and more great software out in the world."
But here's where the advice gets uncomfortable for experienced engineers.
@AndrewYNg is honest about what he's seeing on the ground:
"It is true that a fresh college grad that is really on top of AI will outperform a full stack engineer with 10 years of experience that is still doing things they were back in 2022, 3 years ago before GenAI."
However, there's a nuance most people miss when they hear that stereotype:
"The other piece that is less well appreciated is the best engineers I know are not fresh college grads. They're actually very experienced engineers that deeply understand architecture and the conceptual framework of how to think about computers and additionally are on top of AI and on top of these AI skills."

@eiranoirx Yawn, "i can remove a battery with a capacity of 2 hours and replace it with another of 2 hours". Meanwhile my macbook air lasts 15+ hours. Who cares.
English

This girl pulled out a 25-year-old MacBook and somehow proved Apple has been moving backward ever since.
Eira@eiranoirx
Call me old fashioned, but the PowerBooks were peak Apple.

@ayesha_fatiima You know how you can say 'water' instead of 'dihydrogen monoxide'. Basically same thing.

@FakePsyho Hard leetcode problems are really hard. They would be hard problems in textbooks too. But it seems a bit different solving a problem from a textbook and grinding a leetcode problem.

@WangNextDoor2 She has a cat, richer and wealthier than me on all acounts.
English

@iHateApplee I know I'm talking to what probably amounts to a parody account. But yeah apple ads and privacy issues are not the same as Google's who are 1000x worse.
English

MKBHD really is losing his mind and becoming an Apple sheep.
Spends all video talking about how Google is an ADs company, how it collects data, while telling people to be careful, BUT, never says the same about Apple.
Does he not understand Apple is also an ADs company now and collects data? Apple has lost every single privacy court case they've been to. Just look at the Siri court case, crazy amounts of data collection, without the user even activating Siri.
Don't even get me started on Apple's non-functioning tracking toggles.
We all know what Google does, why is he so scared to put Apple in the same sentence as Google?

@TimmehTimmehhh Nope, but feels like everyone loves to steal a good reddit post from r/auscorp and post on X.

Anyone else feel like Australian corporate life has become completely cooked?
Not sure if this is a rant or if I’m just burnt out, but Australian corporate life feels genuinely cooked at the moment.
Hiring is a mess. So many jobs feel like they’re already filled before they’re advertised, but you still have to jump through 3–4 interviews, do the awkward “why do you want to work here” dance, then get ghosted or sent a generic rejection three weeks later.
Then you finally get a job and half the time it’s endless restructures, new priorities, new managers, new acronyms, new “ways of working”, but somehow the actual workload only ever goes one way.
The fake positivity does my head in too. Everyone pretending to be excited about “change” and “culture” while quietly drowning. Morning teas, RUOK emails, wellness webinars, all while people are doing the work of two or three roles and stressing about rent, groceries, fuel, mortgages, insurance, whatever else has gone up this week.
And the commute stuff is insane. Dragging people back into offices so they can sit on Teams calls, lose two hours a day travelling, and spend more money they don’t have, all for “collaboration”.
I don’t know. It just feels like the social contract has completely fallen apart. Work harder, get paid less in real terms, live further away, own less, pretend to be grateful, and keep smiling.
Maybe I’m just jaded, but it honestly feels like a lot of us are becoming strangers in our own country. Like everything is technically “fine”, but it doesn’t feel like it’s built for normal people anymore.
Anyone else feeling this, or have I just had one too many corporate town halls?

@LightBSV Ira Kleiman is one of the dumbest cunts in existence. To even give him credence makes you a dumb cunt by association.
English

@mil000 The one with the inverted T arrangement yes; the on depicted is dogshit.
English

@BitcoinSVCOL Ah because he certainly doesn't have his own agenda.
English

I look like now Ira Kleiman brother of David Kleiman now supports the Craig's claims as Satoshi Nakamoto.
Ira Kleiman@Kleiman1933
@tuftythecat So you’re suggesting that Craig concocted everything yet managed to persuade some of the most sophisticated cryptographers in the world to support his claims. I may have bought into that argument if I didn’t have a memory of my brother mentioning creating his own money.
English

@78Kadmon @tuftythecat I mean his appeal was dismissed so yeah final & binding.
English

@tuftythecat Final and binding? - only for unquestioning cult members.
A court ruling does not determine the truth.

Two years ago today, Mr Justice Mellor issued his judgment in COPA v Wright, which confirmed the declarations made at the end of the trial on 14 March that Wright was not Satoshi and did not write the White Paper, 3 years after COPA issued proceedings in response to Wright's threats.
The judgment went much further, with Mellor J concluding that: "Dr Wright's attempts to prove he was/is Satoshi Nakamoto represent a most serious abuse of this Court's process"; "he lied repeatedly and extensively in his attempts to deflect the allegations of forgery"; and "the case that Dr Wright is not Satoshi Nakamoto is overwhelming".
Wright was subsequently ordered not to threaten or issue proceedings on the basis of any rights in Bitcoin, was then found in contempt of court for doing exactly that, and is currently still at large, subject to a suspended prison sentence and pending a decision on perjury charges being brought by the CPS.
The wheels of justice grind very slow.

English

@tuftythecat Yes yes yes, but ex parte communications with the judge completely tainted the case!

@HAFPINTMUSIC Ah “I am the real satoshi”, just what the real satoshi would say aye!

Dr. Craig wright is 100% the creator of Bitcoin and Bitcoin white paper and used the pseudonym Satoshi Nakamoto
Copa v wright case here
You can see the Body language
And the way dr. Craig wright answered every question with the evidence to prove what he is saying is correct
Also “ I am the real Satoshi “
News channels can say whatever they like that pays the bills but the truth is csw handled this court like a professional and killed it.
From what I see dr. Craig wright was not lying and was silenced by the uk courts until end of this year.
But none of it matters because the tech speaks for itself.
Bitcoin is bsv
Dr. Craig Steven wright is Satoshi Nakamoto
You can watch this case 100 times and everytime I am more confirmed dr wright was set up by copa and still defeated copa in court
Although whatever courts want and say will happen even if not true
But you can see the truth as it shines through every line spoken in this court room.
More to come follow like and share
Thank you
