👏 Thank you @NOLACityCouncil for getting this right and EmpowerYouNOLA for posting about it. Glad 4 councilmembers showed commitment to public safety. Props to them. But concerned that 3 councilmembers did not. Remember how your councilmembers vote on public safety; which they all campaign on. Full reel: instagram.com/reels/DXW4PKSj…

"Are there downsides to [drones], Chief, from a law enforcement standpoint?" An emphatic "no." Ronal Serpas explains why @NOLACityCouncil and @NOPDNews need to double down on drone use and ignore the same tired arguments against technology; particularly as NOPD is short staffed.

Good anecdote of the constant mental gymnastics people are putting themselves through to toe the line and live in a constant state of hate to remain “unwaveringly loyal to their political party” (yikes). It’s sad that many have let Donald rob them of >10% of their lives over the last ~11 years by being absolutely consumed by how “bad” they believe he is. The people/media/politicians that stood/stand to benefit from the “democracy/your life/the country is at risk” fear-mongering narrative are largely to blame IMO. The collateral damage is exhausting. History showed with the first term that the world in fact didn’t end. We need to collectively take a chill pill, hug our fellow countrymen (we have much more in common than not), and rest in the comfort that things are never as bad as they are portrayed, never as good as they are portrayed.

😂🎯 don’t forget something about the production ramp S-curve, being constrained by the least lucky part, could deploy faster but we are being paranoid, our generalized solution is proving valuable with some small tweaks for individual localities, the dozen other boilerplate statements, and then Elon will get our hopes up with “I’ve been wrong in the past but this is my best guess and I am extremely confident, I would be very surprised if we don’t do X by the end of the year” - then IR team quickly calls for next question

I think it's very unlikely Robotaxi will get any guidance, including pushback guidance. Most likely: "It's going well, we are monitoring it and increasing both supervised and unsupervised continuously, as you can see, and will scale at the appropriate pace, with safety first" and Elon: "We could cover half of the population end of the year, maybe, like, a year late, lol"
Bryan@TexasBryan

@JOBhakdi I'm half thinking it could drop to $350 or less if robotaxi guidance gets pushed back

@rhensing @bechtweets 🤦‍♂️ That involves buying an entire new vehicle. There’s nothing “free” about it. HW4 also comes with clear legal language that unsupervised is never promised, that was not the case with HW3.

🙄 You know the hundred reasons there is no equating what Elon is to Tesla (and Tesla’s future) what Tim is to Apple. Steve Jobs/Apple is a better comparison to Elon/Tesla and he did get “fired” by Apple. “If my grandmother had wheels she would have been a bike” youtu.be/A-RfHC91Ewc?si…

@TexasTSLA Yes, 100% essential. Part of the reason the very-hyped 14.3 roll out was disappointing and the rush to produce AI5 may be a bit concerning for AI4 owners.

Is sign reading essential for autonomy? Is it the last puzzle piece? FSD 14.3.1 seems to not read all markings and signs and same with Robotaxi Humans read signs when driving. Is it important? Or nah?
TexasTSLA@TexasTSLA

😞 Tesla @robotaxi in Dallas fails to read the sign correctly and refuses to turn on red 😖 Angry driver honks 4 times and finally goes around! 🤬🤬🤬 It turned on red at other lights but I think this sign confused it 😭

I “explain” them as local maxima - we’ve had “unsupervised” demos in restricted geographic areas for a decade (remember Tesla’s video driving from Bay Area to Palo Alto HQ in 2016?). If the AI4 unsupervised robotaxis aren’t just local maxima, why has Tesla not “woken up the entire fleet”? Unless it’s so that they can produce enough Y’s with washers and extra hardware and/or Cybercabs so that Tesla-owned vehicles can capture the ride-hailing market before “letting in” consumer-owned vehicles (a logical/real possibility when the software/hardware capability gets there). PS - if it makes you feel better, fellow TSLA investor since 2013 here, at levels those closest to me called me crazy for (despite the social media hype, no one is actually “all in”, not even Elon). I fully stand by my statement “If you're not at least a bit fed up with Tesla's FSD shenanigans, seems you're planted firmly in the dumb luck crowd.” Probably all comes out in the wash in the next few years. ‘Til then, buckle up…

@cotoverde @Xil_llix How do you explain HW4 model Y’s robotaxis driving around autonomously? Are they perfect? Nope, but I’m confident Tesla knows the path to get them to the level they need to be. No idea on time frame. Been all in TSLA for 13+ years, call it dumb luck if it makes u feel better.

Funny how they become the most moronic example of TSLAQ the moment they lost their $TSLA position. Have fun buying back at $800 AJ. You can bet at that point nobody will dare tell Tesla investors that the Robotaxi market entrance was "late". It was always going to coincide with the Cybercab.

The more I see, the more I realize that capitalism is grossly undervalued. People have literally never been less starved, less suffering, lived longer, etc. in the history of the entire planet. Capitalism has given the poorest people on earth today more than the richest people on earth 100 years ago had.

IMO, we’re going to enjoy some successes for the next few months in new Robotaxi territories and with fun “firsts” like the Cybercab form factor giving rides (and possibly Optimus helping with deliveries) that seem like slow and methodical progress/testing/validation but are really Tesla cleverly (and rightfully) “stalling” until the real “fleet awakening” with AI5+. People who come from a technical or manufacturing background seem to have quite an advantage here to be able to read the tea leaves and see how the progress is actually going. A similar thing happened with Model 3 ramp hell (remember “flufferbot” and the thousand other things that Wall Street and pretty much every journalist covering Tesla thought were issues that would push Tesla near bankruptcy but really weren’t super novel issues and could be solved in short order?). It’s different now b/c the technical people come across as the pessimistic ones vs the non-technical people who are pretty much acting as blind believers. If you take everything verbatim, I have 500 “groundbreaking” companies to sell you. Successful Tesla investors are either that way by dumb luck or by being able to be optimistically pessimistic about Tesla’s major technological promises/challenges/progress. If you’re not at least a bit fed up with Tesla’s FSD shenanigans, seems you’re planted firmly in the dumb luck crowd.

@cotoverde You can’t be late on tech nobody has. The problem with all the people accusing Elon of being late is that they always took targets for promises. But all of this is wasted words now Tesla has unsupervised Robotaxis entering production.

🙄Point 2 is also 100% correct, whether it was “intentional” by Tesla or not to do so on day 1. Not putting firmer restrictions on the highway segments, or not verifying deeper to ensure some were in place, clearly was intentional. This is how a roll-out goes. No need to spin facts that are easily verifiable with actual footage. Clearly the general public will not be afraid to “call it like it is”.

@tpgoebel Points 1 and 3 are correct. Highway driving is not yet supported. There was one routing error that led to an unintended highway entry, with an immediate "looking for safe place to pull over" message

So let me get this straight; Tesla launched publicly bookable robotaxis in 2 new cities… 1) Without first going with a safety driver 2) Including highways on Day 1 3) After only operating in one city and the metropolitan Bay Area before Did I get that right? That is arguably faster than some might have expected! Bullish!

Life upgrade: get a Nest and just turn off “smart” scheduling. We’ve had 4 of them between two different houses and they have 💯 paid for themselves by allowing us to adjust temps remotely while we’re gone, turn off the condenser after a neighbor said it was making a weird noise (likely saved thousands in collateral damage), turning on/off the AC remotely for a tech to do repairs from outside without needing to get in our house while we were out of town, etc.

Yes! 2026.8.6.1 has been a major upgrade for us in New Orleans (smooth driving style, excellent decisions, etc.). I could swear it’s avoided a few potholes and major bumps in the road (usually goes head first at them ha). Even ended a touchless trip by parking us in a parking spot at our destination’s parking lot today (don’t think it’s ever done that before without at least pushing a parking spot icon). 3 amazing drives today where the only intervention I did was turn an early blinker off to not annoy the other drivers. New Orleans has been quite the gauntlet, great to see the progress, especially for AI3! @aelluswamy @yunta_tsai

Been driving @tesla FSD v12.6.4 on our MY (software 2026.8.6.1, aka "something changed but they won't tell us") over the last week and came across a pleasant surprise: sun blindness tolerance is wayyy better than before. I have not gotten FSD to abort from being blinded by the sun at all this week. I've driven into direct sunlight during some of my drives, as did my wife, and in all instances, these were scenarios that would have historically kicked us out of FSD. But it held strong in all instances with this build. The below example isn't the worst of the worst direct sunlight, but it's the only time I remembered to record and actively test. @MissJilianne have you gotten software 2026.8.6.1 on your HW3 Model S? Your sunlight blindness videos came to mind as soon as I found my car could suddenly deal with direct sunlight better after this update.
