So @WeConsentIRL posted this reel, featuring trans identifying Maguire claiming he experienced female socialisation and expectations of how to be a girl or woman. They deleted my comment almost immediately and then turned off comments entirely. It’s pretty disgraceful for a campaign on consent to not even check who they have as the face of the campaign. Craig Maguire was notoriously petitioned by Trinity SU and students to be removed as president, after he brought and effigy onto campus and plastered survivors of rape and assaults stories all over campus without their consent. His assertion that he had any expectation of how to behave is laughable, particularly the line where he claims he was taught to be quiet, as if he did not stand screaming into a loud hailer while @AnnetteMckay15 spoke about Tuam mother and baby home, calling her and other women “Nazis”. He is a man who speaks over women and calls us Nazis if we don’t consent to him in our single sex spaces with us, because he is male. So to have him talk about consent, is well and truly a kick in the teeth.

Compare and contrast @STVNews attributing this sexual offending against girls to a woman (left - a 'lesbian' even), never mentioning the offender is male, with careful reporting in @courier_dundee (right), which at no point calls him a woman or she (right - link in next tweet)/

Here we have it. For trans people to live in dignity, everyone else must “accept” their gender. That’s the claim to control our thoughts and beliefs that means gender ideology is inherently destructive of others’ rights.

Today is Trans Visibility Day. Across the world, people are celebrating the idea of being seen. But what does it truly mean to be seen? My daughter, Ilene, believed she was transgender. Over time, Ilene became deeply immersed in that identity—surrounded by pride and trans flags, changing a name, and ultimately cutting off a parent. Even in a final note, Ilene remained loyal to that belief system, placing blame on a parent and insisting on chosen pronouns. But was Ilene truly seen? Because if Ilene had been truly seen—fully understood, fully supported—Ilene might still be alive. Real visibility means more than affirmation. It means recognizing pain, asking difficult questions, and not turning away when someone is struggling. Instead, Ilene died alone in a dorm room, while celebrations were taking place on campus during National Coming Out Day at Rider University. Today carries more than one meaning. It is also the one-year anniversary of the publication of my article, “Teens Taking Lives While on Testosterone,” by Pitt Parents. Whether it was intentional or not that it appeared on this same day, that moment ensured something important: Ilene’s story was finally seen. My voice was heard. Through Pitt Parents, I found a community of parents—many carrying fears similar to mine, many walking paths they never expected. Their support gave me the courage to speak more openly. I am deeply grateful to @pittparents, @ethical_care, @Miriam_Grossman, @KDansky, and @Resettosanity , whose willingness to share and amplify Ilene’s story a year ago helped it reach farther than I ever could alone. Because of that encouragement, I began speaking publicly on X, opening a new chapter where Ilene’s story continues to be read, shared, and remembered. To everyone who has offered kind words, support, or even a simple message—I am truly thankful. Those gestures matter more than people realize. Ilene and I do not need a single designated day to feel visible. That visibility lives on in every person who listens, who reflects, and who refuses to look away. @MartGillingham @KBGreyhoundlady Semenya's autobiography is instructive. The photo of a 15 year old Semenya on the beach bare chested in a pair of swimming trunks speaks volumes. The unsavoury attacks by Semenya on the female athletes for not running fast enough & being 'racial' are also extremely unedifying.
