Emergency Manager for the Village of Ruidoso, NM. I'm in the business of saving lives, what's yours? Tweets are my own. SATX WFTX RNM

I spent the morning in Ruidoso, New Mexico, to meet with community leaders and those impacted by this summer’s devastating floods. @DHSgov and @FEMA have been working closely with state and local partners to deliver $3.1M in upfront aid and deploy +160 staff who remain in the area. Thanks to @POTUS Trump’s disaster declaration, an additional $2.9M has been unlocked to help families rebuild. Today, another $11.4M was announced for four more disaster recovery projects. Under the Trump Administration, FEMA is faster and more responsive than ever. We’re seeing that in Ruidoso, and we will stand with New Mexico until full recovery is achieved.

Along with the risk for severe weather this weekend/next week, significant fire-weather appears likely. A strong dryline will support extremely dry and windy conditions over NM, TX and OK Sunday through Tuesday. Dangerous fire-weather conditions likely. spc.noaa.gov

Long time followers here know that I don’t do politics, and there’s no political content on this account. I vote; and that’s it. The world does not need another social media nitwit telling people how to think and vote. This post is not about politics, but about support for my friends that work for the National Weather Service, part of NOAA, a federal agency. NWS meteorologists work long, hard hours serving the people of this country, not only during times of severe weather, but on the routine days as well. Their surface and upper air observation networks along with computer models, radars, and satellites are critical for all meteorologists, including those of us in the private sector. Most NWS field offices are currently understaffed right now. I can only imagine morale is not especially high. Many high-level politicians follow this page, both Democrats and Republicans. I would encourage them and all of you to support my colleagues at the National Weather Service during this time. Their service is absolutely invaluable. If NWS products and services are reduced, we all suffer…especially during times of life-threatening weather.
