@shl Full-time engineers? Or how many units of 30-man hours per week if you’re relying on mainly contractors/part-time.

@BillJelavich @paulg There were second-order effects though, mainstream media & journalists were heavily influenced by Twitter as well. Cancel culture for example was very Twitter-centric, but the chilling effect of that was felt broadly.

The rise and fall of wokeness: DEI commitments in corporate securities disclosures filed with the SEC. To me this seems a trailing indicator; most other measures of wokeness take off well before 2019 and peak in 2020 or 2021. But the shape! That's what a moral fashion looks like.

@dherealmark @levelsio @dannypostma Do you have a good tolerance for heat? I've spent many years in Thailand but I'm starting to get tired of the heat now. Back home in Canada my happy place is hiking in the mountains. With Thailand I find I end up spending too much time indoors dodging the heat.

People thought I was dumb to intentionally burn my 50K/mo biz to the ground by taking 3Y off to build IRL assets. But in those 3Y, I got to finally escape the nomad bubble, and spend that MRR on IRL assets and experience. I bet @dannypostma is doing this rn. Interestingly, like @robj3d3 Ive been having 8h days sprinting and shipping videngineer.com/updates like a beast But I imagine if I didnt have my space, I would have the same mental breakdown,. x.com/dherealmark/st…

I work throughout the week. No holidays because everyday feels like a holiday. I have a home gym, farm, garden, weed, animals, cafe, ice baths, all in one play at my estate in Thailand. I save a ton of cash as I own pretty much everything in my lifestyle

I read somewhere that "When you choose a life partner you're choosing your eating companion for about 20,000 meals, your travel companion for about 70 vacations, your retirement friend, career therapist, & someone whose day you'll hear about 18,000 times" and I really can't stress this enough.

Espresso is bad for cholesterol build up in veins due to coffee oils that filter paper (like in V60) filters out
sourcerer@sourcerer19

@levelsio I use a gaggia classic and a graef grinder. You never tried the espresso way? cleaning should be simple if you have your grind dialed in as the coffee puck comes out clean out with one tap.

Life is an optimization algorithm, and simulated annealing is the way to find global optima for any parameter. Once you understand stochastic algorithms, they can become a prescription for how to live your life.

This was a mistake. In 2024, my wife and I started a low-carb / low-calorie diet. For me, the impact wasn’t critical: + Low testosterone (133 ng/mL) + Lack of energy for heavy workouts + Low body fat, but muscles were maintained + Felt good overall My wife had a very different experience: + Significant weight loss + Wrecked sleep (wakes up at 2 a.m., can’t fall back asleep) + Lack of overall energy (not just for workouts) + Female hormones dropped to extremely low levels + Reduced libido, missed periods It took us almost 2 years to find the culprit. At first, we blamed her sleep habits: We stopped eating a while before bed, stopped drinking coffee, etc. Then we blamed her workout intensity—so she stopped doing Hyrox and switched to lighter training like pilates. Two months ago, during our usual 6-month blood test in Korea, she decided to also check her female hormone levels (Estradiol & Luteinizing). They were at an extreme low (3.5x lower than minimum normal levels) We then saw a gynecologist in Korea, who explained that the low-calorie diet was the source of all her problems. Wonji has been eating more (and reintroduced carbs), and her symptoms are disappearing step by step: + More energy + Close to perfect sleep + Reasonable muscle and weight gain + More libido (nice!) + Periods are back We blindly followed @bryan_johnson’s ethos: “every calorie must fight for its life.” It was our mistake to assume that what works for a 48-year-old man with medical care would also work for a 33-year-old woman.
Marc Lou@marclou

I tried a new diet for 2 weeks (didn't change my workout plan): ❌ Cut carbs completely 🍏 Eat only nuts, meat/fish/eggs/tofu, vegetables, and dairy 🍽️ 2 meals per day (breakfast at 10 am, dinner at 2 pm) This happened: - My body fat has decreased to the lowest I've had - My cravings are gone I used to snack between meals (fruits, wheat bix, snacks) because I was hungry even just 1 hour after a meal. I can't believe my cravings are gone, although I eat less than before (from 3 to 2 meals a day).
