@odd_angry_shot @AMercouris How many of these old tropes can you throw out at once? Ppl been playing this tune since 2010s. Yes research rankings, # of labs, tech patents, r&d spending, PhD research staff keep rising. Maybe check out how many ching-chong names are on the world's research output in 2026?

China is in no position to play games here, they import the most energy and food in the world, they have no blue water navy to secure those supply lines, they can't project power past the first island chain They are in demographic collapse and deflationary debt spiral, they'll be lucky to hold the country together and likely fall into their default state of disunity and civil war

The importance of this news is being underestimated. In my opinion it is epoch making. China is apparently telling its refiners to ignore US sanctions and to conduct their business in disregard of them. In other words it is telling them that if the US comes for them because they are violating US sanctions, they have China's back. If that expands to include other Chinese businesses, and sooner or later it surely will, the US sanctions era is over. The US remains an enormous consumer market, but China holds the high cards. It is both the 'workshop of the world' and increasingly its high tech research institute and laboratory, and it is also rapidly becoming a major source of global investment capital. Trading with the US remains profitable and attractive, but not trading with China is not an option, even for the United States. It goes beyond saying that if China opposes US sanctions they become unenforceable. It means that they become impossible, and the whole structure which has been created around them must end. Fyodor Lukyanov, who is very well connected in Moscow, is saying the Chinese are undertaking a review to assess whether the US is, as the Russians say, 'agreement incapable'. If so then this decision points to the outcome. @RnaudBertrand @AXChristoforou @TheGrayzoneNews @RealPepeEscobar @thecyrusjanssen youtube.com/watch?v=PZmepe…

Allow me to rock your world. America has about 6000 hospitals. 5121 of those are publicly accessible and 1224 are completely free. That's twice as many charity hospitals as Canada has Tim Horton's. Literally. Then, when you see a doctor, the doctor speaks English and went to school somewhere you've heard of. Harvard is not the only way to get educated, but it is nice in the fall. We don't push people into medically assisted suicide for cost reasons. We don't ask people with emergency conditions to sit in the ER for 10 hours before they see a doctor. So yes, if you have a cutting-edge disease and you go to a private hospital and get the best care in the world, you're on the hook for it. But note that you are also ALIVE.
Mark Slapinski@mark_slapinski

People say Canadian healthcare is not free, because we pay taxes for it. But in America, people pay taxes and still have to pay for healthcare out of their pockets. And if they are broke, the hospital tells them to go die.

@Noahpinion Except Chinese historical texts have usually proven extremely accurate. By your logic every ship built should have a shipwreck somewhere or it never existed. Then why do u even bother to believe in evolution. 99.999999...% of the fossil record is missing.

@HeLiuLeo This is some historical illiteracy of the next order. The Japanese lost the war before the us even entered. They only surrendered to the US before the red army got there to occupy Japan. The performance of the entire us land army was atrocious in ww2.

@DrEliDavid Way to ignore the 99% who pay for and dont profit at all from oil. Exxon wins but the 99% that get squat from exxon loses. There are just as many oil users in America as anywhere else. They all lose. Yes there's no Chinese exxon to profit like exxon does, but so what?

@NikkiHaley Wtf Covid clearly came from the US. Just because your universities that owned all the research found Chinese patsyies to do the unsafe grunt lab work. It doesn't make it a Chinese virus any more than Nike is a Chinese brand.

China gave the world COVID. Then the Chinese Communist Party directed hackers to steal American COVID research while we were fighting the pandemic. Yesterday, one of those hackers was extradited to the U.S. to face charges. He’s also linked to a Chinese state-backed group that compromised nearly 13,000 U.S. organizations. This is one arrest, but China has thousands of hackers on its payroll. Worth remembering as we’re negotiating deals with the same government that did this.

China owns Canada’s ONLY antimony mine. And shut it down. Antimony is in every bullet, every missile, every night-vision system. No army on earth can fight a day without it. China bought the Beaver Brook mine in Newfoundland for $29.5 million. Shuttered it in 2023. One year later, Beijing banned antimony exports to the US military. Prices went from $5,900/tonne to nearly $60,000. This mine could produce 5% of global supply. Instead it sits idle under Chinese state control, an hour from a Canadian military base designated for F-35s. The US launched a $10 billion critical minerals reserve. Signed 11 bilateral deals. Canada signed zero. Carney calls China a “strategic partner.” China is using our own resources as a weapon against the West.

1/5 It's true that China was able to withstand the effects of the Iran war better than many other countries because it had stockpiled commodities. But it is a little silly, perhaps even a little orientalist, to say that it did so because of strategic thinking. bloomberg.com/news/features/…

@Write4Republic Lol. How do you make entropy go backwards? When you are in the ocean you better move with the currents rather than thinking you can somehow move the currents. China is the background like the expansion of the universe. Learn to leverage it as a force of nature.

China steals what it can’t build — fighter jet designs, cancer drug formulas, and now AI. If we don’t make them pay for that theft, we risk handing the Chinese Communist Party the most powerful technology edge in history. We shouldn’t give our tech away either. Selling China our most advanced chips only helps them win.

The dream of China surpassing the U.S. as the world’s largest economy is fading. In 2021, China’s GDP was about 78% of the U.S.; by 2024, that share had fallen to roughly 64%, back to around 2017 levels, with the gap between the two economies doubling in just a few years.
