@TheStalwart bc this kind of offering is not common for retail, it must be emphasized: you are not getting early companies at early valuations.

@0xKNL__ Do you think there’ll even be new angel investments just getting assigned old portfolio at current valuation via side-deals with existing LPs

this is a predatory product with extremely misleading marketing -- RIDICULOUS 1% mgmt fee... but the vehicle is just there to monetize affiliate transactions and layer fees (its fund of funds essentially) this is disgusting and not surprising to see the naval shill on it

Italian efficiency when it comes to coffee should be studied. In Italy: - Walk into a bar and look at the guy - Un caffe - 30 seconds later it’s ready - Shoot it - Leave €1 - Walk out In the US: - Join a line - Wait - Order coffee - Answer 12 questions: Size? Milk? Roast? Sugar? Temperature? Colombia beans? Name? How do you spell it? - $12.34 - Ask for a 20% tip. Click 5 times on a ipad to have a custom tip - Tap phone - ask where to send the invoice - Wait again on a different line - Someone call a name that sounds similar to mine - get the coffee - too hot, can't drink it - finally at temperature taste like shit

Decentralized blockchain but tx reversibility conditions are baked in the protocol - e.g. transaction is reversed if the governance / validator vote is passed within a 24h window did anyone ever consider building such thing?

The UAE's request for a swap line -- presumably after a big fall in the central bank's $285b in reserves in March/ early April -- confirms that the GCC countries are now a net drain on offshore dollar liquidity. The Saudis also will need to borrow dollars to get through 1/

@DeItaone Not acquire!! They have the right to acquire for $60B at end-of-year or essentially a $10B fee if not. Needed to get the deal done pre-IPO for SpaceX to have the flexibility, even if not fully executed.

have seen multiple ai ppl say there there's pretty high probability openai goes bankrupt this dario clip from his latest podcast with dwarkesh explains the math behind it pretty well
Deedy@deedydas

Demis Hassabis and Sebastian Mallaby were on stage in SF today and here are the 9 best things they said: 1. "There is a 50% chance that OpenAI goes bankrupt in the next 18mos" -Mallaby 2. "Dario is the best of all the other lab leaders." -Demis 3. On Claude Mythos: "It's not really tenable for a private company to decide who gets access to the frontier of cyber defense tech. What happens when China can do this in 6-12mos?" -Mallaby 4. "Not all countries are pessimistic about AI. I was just in India for the AI Summit Modi had and they're quite optimistic there" -Demis 5. "The most exciting current prospect in AI is our work at Isomorphic Labs. AlphaFold is just one of the many problems we need to solve. We need 6 'AlphaFold' moments to compress the drug delivery timeline from 10yrs to a few months" -Demis 6. "I don't think of p(doom) as probabilities to throw out there. I just know it's non zero. Some people like Marc Andreesen and Yann LeCun think it's 0% and I think that's crazy" -Demis 7. On AGI: "I think of a post-scarcity world where on the bright side we will have an unbelievable amount of science but we will have to think of economic problems of sharing proceeds equitably. We will also have philosophical questions to answer and need great new philosophers" -Demis 8. On career advice: "Immerse yourself in AI tools. Everyone has access to tools 3-6 months behind frontier. Enormous opportunity lies in applying AI to unexplored areas." -Demis 9. On the future: "When I started building this technology, I pictured a future quite different from this. More like CERN researchers where we discuss ideas and help each other out and stress test each other's ideas. It's my job to help how I can to make sure we make more considered, more scientific, more rigorous and more thoughtful decisions and that will also involve social scientists and economists. I'm going to do all I can to try and influence the future in a note thoughtful manner. The decisions we make in the next 5-10 years are going to affect us for 1000s of years. But I remain very optimistic." -Demis

Threadguy explains how everyone asking AI what stocks to buy could manipulate markets “When RFK's peptide annoucement comes out, everyone is going to go to Claude and ask how to get long” “If it chooses HIMS over Eli Lilly, the captial flows will be substantial I imagine” "If GPT decides that it hates Bitcoin, Bitcoin's probably in trouble. If GPT decides that it loves XRP, XRP is probably gonna catch flows…”

It wasn’t this way before the pandemic. You could actually build wealth in NY, you met regular people working solid six figure jobs in all sorts of industries every time you went out. Post-lockdown, all the ordinary people were replaced with migrants, SF techies who felt they needed to prove something about their social lives, and trust fund kids run amok. You can’t build wealth in NY (and CA) anymore from the ground up — the upwards career trajectory for early 20s types has gone elsewhere. It’s simply too expensive and taxing to compound wealth over time and invest properly. Running a small business is totally out of the question when you consider the risk/reward and the sheer cost of operations. NY culture, as a result, has shifted towards “spend down your inherited money here”, which ironically causes more localized inflation in the things that are “fon to due”, and one wonders what happens when all those silver spoon types realize they’re all bored of eachother.
daniela@daniela__127

Lots of people are willfully obtuse about the concept of “secret family money” in nyc. The girl who never works but is always wearing designer may be scouring eBay or Poshmark for deals. But if she grew up rich, it’s far more likely her parents are just paying her cc bill.

They want you talking about Israel while they wage war on China. Although the American public doesn’t have any clue what they will get in return for funding a $200b+ military excursion or whom their negotiators even represent, you’re supposed to blindly trust the plan.
