@AvantiWestCoast@TPExpressTrains I also see the 9.49 service of yours is still sat in Carlisle. How long will it be delayed for? We could maybe get that if it doesn’t leave in the next 20 minutes.
@AvantiWestCoast You have just cancelled my train. This was a connection to get me to Kilmarnock for the football at 3pm. There is no Avanti service before it and the one after is too late as I wouldn’t arrive until 15.21. What do you suggest?
@VirginAtlantic I have a flight booked from LHR - JFK in economy classic. How can I use my points to upgrade this (is it an option on the website? Can’t find it!)
@groupstageexit@RailUKForums Regardless, all TOC’s are required to abide by the regulations in place (though regularly try to avoid doing so, admittedly).
Additionally, if you wish to engage in perusing “Drivel”, may I kindly suggest you review your recent tweet history.
This is wrong; firstly, any passenger whose delay could reasonably be anticipated to be over an hour is *entitled* to be re-routed, as per the relevant legislation.
Furthermore, this statement goes against the policies agreed by all train companies:

@WestMidRailway@stefwithonef14@WestMidRailway There is NO obligation for a passenger to actively seek out the conductor if they were unable to purchase a ticket before travel.
A penalty fare would successfully be appealed if it were issued under these circumstances (issued before the earliest opportunity)
@stefwithonef14 Hi Stef, in the event you cannot purchase a ticket wish cash at your departure station, you must make yourself known to the conductor as soon as possible, who may be able to sell you a ticket. If not, you must purchase your ticket at the earliest opportunity. ^JR
We check tickets every single day, often a simple "tickets please" as our crew pass through the train, sometimes a station block. During two blocks this week at Snow Hill & Wolves
📈 3,663 checked
💲170 penalty fares issued
📝 61 prosecution referrals
Don’t want to pay. FINE.
@NetworkRailSCOT I appreciate that, but it was very apparent that crossing the border, the level of danger remained the same but the speed restriction became apparent.
I absolutely, 100% support your rationale for imposing this in the central belt and up north, but it seems illogical here
@ScotRail@NetworkRailSCOT
Why is Gretna - Dumfries restricted to 40mph?
Absolutely no severe weather
No inclement forecast
No dangerous conditions
It feels like, just because we’re in Scotland we’ve been included in the ESR needlessly.
Please think carefully going forward
@boldrex@AvantiWestCoast It unfortunately is true. I’ve just watched an empty 390 depart Carlisle Northbound.
To be fair, this question is well above the pay-grade and responsibility of the social media team and ought to be directed at the senior management team.
@guychord1@AvantiWestCoast WTF? Is this for real @AvantiWestCoast? I've got to hand it to you, I didn't think you'd plunge so deeply and quickly into the abyss of appalling service so soon after you got that contract. Thought you'd leave it a few months
@AvantiWestCoast why state you are running “NO” service North of Preston when you have clearly run a skeleton service?
Many essential journeys, including mine, not happened due to the misinformation on your website and other comms.
Please be honest with your customers in future
@LindaNi121202@cheg5@AvantiWestCoast Complete lack of contingency planning resources and a handy excuse for short-staffing related cancellations.
I agree, overall not good at all.
@cheg5@AvantiWestCoast the bad weather is up north..Scotland.... not between Carlisle and Preston @AvantiWestCoast more horrendous management decisions by AWC
@georgewalker18@AvantiWestCoast@senor_boogie Weather warnings in Scotland.
I agree it’s a poor show and it shows a complete lack of contingency planning resources that no service can run south of Carlisle despite no adverse weather forecast, but sadly that’s the reality of the situation.
@Katty1962@BBCScotlandNews It IS a cold.
It is and will forever continue to circulate in endemic equilibrium. There is literally nothing that can be done other than cutting off hospital wards or care homes through total isolation.
@lokiavivson The nightmare I had at Preston ticket office when I bought a full day rover and they gave me one of these horrid things!
Of course it got a little scrumpled up and the RPI I encounted at Manchester towards the end of the day was seriously unimpressed!
@chris_hedge1984@SkyNewsBreak Indeed - these strikes do absolutely nothing to support their cause (especially on a Saturday) but do:
- Cause public inconvenience
- Cost members their salary
- Decrease confidence
- Increase frustration
- Encourage modal change
They’re committing industrial suicide.
@SkyNewsBreak I travel - a lot. My friends travel - a lot. Not one of us are relying on the trains for the rest of this year, and all of next year. The RMT won't have a service to strike from if they carry on like this.
RMT union announces around 20,000 members at 14 train operators will strike on 26 August and 2 September
For more on this and other news visit trib.al/Rx0iR33
@Needdm@BBCNews Its just become background noise with no purpose other than costing their members and causing public inconvenience whilst those the action is aimed at (the government) sit and idly take little notice.
Completely pointless and needless disruption.
@BBCNews Surely the RMT union knows by now that the strikes achieve nothing. They have been striking for 14 months now and the strikes haven’t moved the dispute any forward. Might as well strike everyday
@seekerenabler@thetrainline Just a tip, but in future never use trainline as they may charge booking fees or not offer the best price.
You’re much better with websites such as Trainsplit which offer no fees and will calculate the absolute cheapest price for your journey.
@RMTunion@RailDeliveryGrp If we get stuck in this traditional mindset forever, we’ll never be able to make progress and financially save the railways.
Ticket offices can’t even offer the best value (split tickets), and staff are NOT being laid off, just redeployed.
We understand that the @RailDeliveryGrp will announce ticket office closures next Wednesday.
It is clear from our feedback that most passengers do not wish to see this happen.
