@sama every time there’s a model update, i wish the model could tweet about it or do a release — in its own voice? feel like models should narrate their own evolution, so we can feel the why in it

the last couple of GPT-4o updates have made the personality too sycophant-y and annoying (even though there are some very good parts of it), and we are working on fixes asap, some today and some this week. at some point will share our learnings from this, it's been interesting.

@levelsio Show us your recovery!! 👀 that’s the real flex (I get 100% sleep, w bad recovery. Recovery= feels during day) Always 100% if I have 8.5hrs in bed, no melatonin or supps, constant travel, roller husband. Yes, super healthy, workout daily, earplugs if noise, etc. Biomarkers avg.

How I get 100% perfect sleep: - very cold bedroom 18-20°C / 64-68°F (colder better) - 9kg weighted blanket by CURA (adjust to your bodyweight) - separate duvet from gf (I do this for years this might be the biggest sleep improvement) - 3M ear plugs (I tried Ohropax wax but they only half as silent) - eye mask - red LED lights that go on before sleep in bedroom - 0.2mg melatonin 45min before sleep then dim the lights (melatonin is ALWAYS sold in too high dose like 3mg, it should be 10x less or it doesn't work!) - 4x per week cardio + strength training, my resting heart rate (RHR) is 52 - mostly clean diet of meat + vegetables + fruit + black coffee + sparkling water with lemon (and sometimes cheat with dark choco), not a lot of carbs (almost never pasta or regular potatoes for ex but sometimes rice or sweet potatoes) - healthy biomarkers and body mass index, if you're overweight it WILL affect your sleep usually with sleep apnea etc - read phone before sleep but with Smart Invert on and my custom super dark hack using iOS Zoom (but it doesn't zoom it just decreases brightness even further), then read Kindle a bit to really make me sleepy 😂 - we try avoid eating after 10pm, and we sleep around midnight to 1am, especially sweet stuff like fruits seem to have a bad effect on my sleep - also DO not drink 2-3 hours before sleep or you wake up to go pee (which is more common when you get older) - disclaimer: no kids (yet) so easy talking Other things: Temperature seems to be the biggest impact for me, if it gets too hot I wake up and once I wake up my brain gets active and it's sometimes hard to fall asleep. I already had this years ago and thought it was stress but even if I have life stuff going along I can sleep solid 8h without waking up if it's just a very cold bedroom. If it's really super cold like 17-18°C / 62-64°FI just never wake up For that you need a thick duvet though and your gf needs thicker cause women are generally colder If you're culturally used to sleeping hotter, consider changing that because it seems to benefit almost anyone to sleep colder! An AC will do the trick. As @bryan_johnson tells everyone, sleep is the most important thing to prioritize for your health Good sleep benefits all your health markers, your immune system and so stops you from getting sick. Even cleaning your brain of plaque to avoid dementia when you're older

An API by any other name is still an API. Unless you need to raise money for your AI startup, in which case I prefer MCP.

A few controversial opinions I have today that I think will be universally accepted in 20 years: 1) video games are horrifically addictive and ruining kids lives. 2) a lot of vaccines are totally unnecessary and are messing kids up really bad. 3) fluoride in water is a disaster. Filter it asap and get it out of your toothpaste too. 4) routine bloodwork and hormone optimization would keep all these 40 year old men from looking like blobs and 40 year old women sexually active with their husbands. 5) birth control for ladies is terrible for them and messing them up bad. Stop putting your 15 yr old daughters on them. 6) straight teeth is a no brainer investment. So many people could have 10x the confidence for $5k. 7) glyphosate is killing a ton of people. 8) large vehicles are 10x safer than small vehicles. Don’t put your wife or 16 year old in a sedan. 9) iPads for kids = crack cocaine and it is making them dumber because their attention span shrinks and they never want to play or read books. YouTube is also terrible for them because of shorts. 10) waiting till 35 to get married is a disaster. A lot of these folks are going to wish they had more kids and live with the regrets forever. 11) plastics are killing us. Polyester underwear, tea bags, cutting boards, microwavable meals in plastic (looking at 99.9% of schools and all the meal delivery services). 12) non stick pans cause cancer. 13) kids shouldn’t drink soft drinks ever. And I can’t believe parents buy fruity pebbles and pop tarts. 14) alcohol isn’t as bad as people think it is. When used in moderation it is a net positive. 15) Pitbulls should be banned. 16) recycling is a total scam and should be abolished. 17) sauna is very very healthy. Most people don’t sweat enough. 18) power lifting as a grown adult isn’t worth the damage to back and joints. 19) Long distance running isn’t healthy. More people should sprint. 20) heart disease is #1 killer in men by 10x. Yet nobody gets a heart workup at 35 or 45 or tracks lipid panels. They just wait till they need a bypass or it’s too late. Make it make sense! 21) a lot of my fat friends refuse to use GLP1s because of potential side effects. The side effects of being fat are 10x worse (because of #20). Wake up! 22) a normal, old fashioned business is 10x more likely to make somebody wealthy than a tech startup. 23) AI won’t change the world very much. People are over reacting today just like Elon when he told us we’d have full self driving cars by 2014. It is a long way off. 24) crypto outside of BTC is a total waste of time and electricity. 25) high school kids are numb and antisocial today. They aren’t interested in driving, sex, sports. They can’t talk to anyone and look them in the eye. It’s because they are medicated by social media and what we are feeding them. Also see #1 and #2. If you can raise normal kids they are going to have an easier time than ever getting ahead in this world. What’d I miss? How many of these do you agree with me on?

I couldn’t be more excited about Underdog. BBM IV's the largest fantasy contest ever. Our Pick’em games are wildly popular. Our new vision for sports betting comes soon. @FanDuel & @DraftKings want to take all that away from you. You should know what they’re trying to do.

It ironically gives me so much trust in @X that they don't over engineer emails like this They don't even number_format() the $306.6470857 to $306.65 I'm not joking, I think that's a positive signal, they're shipping fast and not caring about small details like this

Shopify deleted 12,000 meetings this year. Today, they went a step further with a tool that shows the $$$ cost of holding meetings. I spoke to @nejatian (Shopify's COO) about meeting bloat and protecting craft time. Here are 6 spicy takes from our interview 👇

Don’t just read the headlines. Out of the 300 million jobs predicted to be lost to automation according to Goldman Sachs, only 7% were declared to be FULLY substituted using AI. 63% will be COMPLEMENTED by AI. Keep learning and you won’t be replaced.
