@Dickthbutcher @LPDonovan OK. I dont know enough about Social Security to refute that. But LOL at abortion (overturned Roe), immigration (ICE detaining anyone with a brown face), and tariffs (crazy, unthoughtful across the board tariffs are not 'moderate')

@jdpres13 @LPDonovan Trump has moderated the GOP position on Social Security and abortion, the most hot button isssues in American politics, his tariff position was a center left position before he realigned politics, his immigration policy is closer to the median voter than old GOP policy.

Moderate tag has the same negative/pejorative/milquetoast connotation on the right even as the GOP has objectively moderated as a matter of policy. (The corollary is that neither side really wants a temperamental or normative moderate, they want a fighter.)

@jdpres13 @LPDonovan You just have to care a tiny bit about policy to see how Trump moderated the GOP, an impossibility for many on twitter.

Read this carefully. In the Oval Office on Thursday, the President of the United States was asked how much longer the war with Iran would last. This is what he said. "During the war we have the highest stock market. During, you know, a war. It's not a big war for us, but it's a war." It is not a big war for us. For the families of the American sailors deployed to the Strait of Hormuz, including those injured, and those who lost their lives, it is a big war. For American truckers, retirees, and families paying $4 and 17 cents a gallon at the pump, it is a big war.

@MiniRetireMatt Avg US public school teacher earns $72K. They work far more than 35 hours a week as they commonly spend evenings & weekends planning lessons and grading assignments. Summer break for teachers is mid-June to mid-August. If you need help counting months, call a teacher.

@CatsEye33 @NotAvgLiberal How bout before we embrace them, we hold em accountable? How bout we ask em to own their decision vs. excusing it as a unavoidable mistake? How bout we callout their bullshit when they compare a centrist pushing affordable h-care & homes to a dishonest/incompetent criminal?

@NotAvgLiberal I personally think that this attitude of shaming and attacking Recovering MAGA is really unhelpful to our cause. We need them to wake up. We need their votes, their voices, their bodies at No Kings protests. Our country is in too much trouble not to embrace Recovering MAGA.

People who follow me know I am anti-crime and support harsh punishment for criminals, but I believe that misdemeanor assault is the right outcome in this case and might even be too harsh. The reason is that after a month, we don’t know the name of the victim. We haven’t heard from any of his family. Typically, the name of a victim is withheld pending family notification, and if the police still haven't released his name after a month, that means that they have been having a very difficult time reaching a next-of-kin to notify. I believe this means that the man Nassadir Tate punched was likely a homeless mentally-ill junkie who accosted Tate in some way — not merely a fellow commuter who accidentally bumped into him. Nobody but a street person can be killed on a subway platform and never be identified by name in the media. Meanwhile, Nassadir Tate is a guy with an apartment he pays rent for, no previous criminal record and a LinkedIn -- he is a reasonably solid citizen. A lot of people online are projecting assumptions into the absence of details surrounding the man who died in this case and imagining that Tate is a thug who murdered a victim for no reason. I think this is a Daniel Penny-type situation where a citizen defended himself against an aggressive homeless person. When there is a violent confrontation between a junkie and a citizen and the facts surrounding the case are ambiguous, I always assume the junkie is at fault. Also, a lot of people online assume the victim was white and that this may have been a random hate attack, but based on what I have read about the case, I am 90% sure the dead guy was black.
National Conservative@NatCon2022

NYPD says video shows Nassadir Tate, 21, fatally punching a man, 55, at a subway station on 3/14. The victim had accidentally bumped into him. Tate was given a misdemeanor desk appearance ticket. One month later, no name of victim, no video, and Tate is still walking free.

This is a travesty. John represented the President in litigation challenging an election. That’s all. He lied about nothing. Reasonable minds can disagree about the 2020 election. He did what lawyers are supposed to do — represent disfavored individuals. And make no mistake, the elites, especially in bar apparatuses, disfavor and hate President Trump and anyone associated with him with a burning passion. No one representing Vice President Gore was disbarred for losing Bush v. Gore where the whole partial county-specific recount strategy Democrat lawyers devised there was ruled an unconstitutional violation of equal protection. Two-tiered system of justice and of bar discipline. Pray for John and his family and that John will speedily take his case to the U.S. Supreme Court and that they will grant cert and reverse this absolute nonsense.
Kyle Cheney@kyledcheney

JUST IN: John Eastman, the conservative attorney who helped devise President Trump's last ditch strategy to overturn the 2020 presidential election, has officially been disbarred, per the California Supreme Court.:

@ryxcommar They can't "just move". They have to sell the property. Either they can't/won't sell and they continue to pay the tax or they DO sell and the new owner pays the tax. Am I missing something here?

I really do think "they'll just move" is a problem (overstated, but a problem nonetheless) for high local/state taxes on the rich. Progressive taxation really needs to be done at the federal level. That said, the number of people trying to pull this argument in a situation where it doesn't apply is interesting to see. Was that the only argument they had against it, and they just on principle don't really like progressive taxation? They should have just been saying that outright. It would have saved us a lot of trouble if those folks were a little more honest about their motivations.

Hey, we’ve got ultra-wealthy people paying property taxes on multimillion-dollar vacation homes, living here maybe 3 weeks a year, and dumping a ton of money into the local economy while barely using any government services. So overall, they put way more into the system than they take out. Let’s tax them extra so they stop. Brilliant.
CALL TO ACTIVISM@CalltoActivism

🚨HUGE! In a stunning win for his tax the rich plan, Mayor Zohran Mamdani just reached a deal with Governor Kathy Hochul tax second homes valued over $5 million owned by out-of-state residents. The taxes will generate $500 million annually for the state. This is amazing.

@stevesi Counterpoint: the Electoral College is a racist relic designed to give more power to white landowners & slaveholders Today, it creates outsized influence to 7-8 "swing states" and makes the voting of >40 states irrelevant. It is antithetical to the hallmarks of true democracy

This is a blatant attempt to circumvent the deliberate constitutional construct that avoids mob rule and tyranny of majority. It explicitly makes the voting of about 15 states irrelevant and of course it is constructed so they don’t need those states to put this into force. Run this on 2000 and 2016 and you’d be shocked to see what the outcome would be.
