Tina Peters did bad stuff and she was wrong to do it, but five years is a completely reasonable sentence for a non violent crime that resulted in no actual harm. Long prison sentences are for defendants who hurt people and are likely to do it again.

@HonkIfUrHoary Was hoping cat prison programs was leaning towards putting feral cats in prisons (wondered what that had to do with toxic masculinity)… but your cat prison program was much more wholesome! Lol

Dr Ally Louks please marry me. Here’s what I have to offer: I am vegan, I know all the best spots to find crayfish, bats, & birds, I have a thesis that toxic men on the internet hate (cat prison programs to combat toxic masculinity), & Jack and Maple would be great friends.

Most national grades on the #Packers draft are like: "Brandon Cisse was a great value at a position of need, McClennin fills a hole, DDS was a steal at a position of need, Jager is a nice late round pickup, the Trey Smack pick was a really good idea, I give them a C."

@zuzupetals09 @queenie4rmnola Yes because the South wanted to count them as whole people but still not give them a vote. The electoral college was about giving the south a way to count slaves toward political power without giving them any.

@queenie4rmnola you really are a dumbass .. the 3/5 of all others was to diminish the power of states that had indentured servants and slaves .. it was to punish them for having slaves … what are you a doctor of ? it’s certainly not history

The Electoral College decides who becomes president, not the popular vote. No matter who individual voters in places like Louisiana choose, the candidate with the majority wins all the state's electoral votes. When the Electoral College was created, it included the Three-Fifths Compromise, which counted enslaved Black people as three-fifths of a person for the purpose of determining a state’s total population. This gave extra electoral votes to states with slavery, which made a big difference. In the Election of 1800, Thomas Jefferson (a slaveholder) beat John Adams (an abolitionist) largely because of the additional electoral votes Southern states gained through the three-fifths clause. “Donald Trump won the presidency because of two artifacts of slavery: the electoral college and our post-Reconstruction legacy of state voter suppression and disenfranchisement efforts. The electoral college was created in the Constitution to protect the interests of slave owners. And current voter suppression efforts are a direct legacy of white efforts to prevent Blacks from voting after the Fifteenth Amendment prohibited race discrimination in voting.“ — Perea (2018) Besides Donald Trump, George Bush, Benjamin Harrison, and Rutherford B. Hayes all became president without winning the majority of the popular vote. This system is anti-democratic and continues to empower white Southerners at the expense of Black Southerners.

@queenie4rmnola How is it rooted in slavery? Can you please explain

@Freespeech212 @Redistrict The republicans and the Roberts court have been taking chunks out of the VRA for more than a decade and Texas started the stupid between census redistricting. You don't get to throw the first punch then play innocent.

@Wrongwaythink @PeterBernegger @AAGDhillon So who is doing it? You cannot make that change in a database without it being logged. It would stick out like a sore thumb. This theory would take less than 5 minutes to prove.

@BobbyDukeArts They think you are still looking for something matching your qualifications and this is only temporary until you get a better offer. Obvs all jobs are temp until you get a better offer but the overqualified means they think you are already looking for something else.

@Sooner_Source @saargonside @Cwharrisontx @kellwoohoo Gavin Newsome held a press conference and said if TX redistricts we are going to. Texas doing what they did triggered all of this. Don't get upset that Dems finally have the stones to play republican games.

Spare me the complaints about Virginia's new districts. This is my new district in Texas. Unlike VA, I wasn't able to vote on it. The blue area is a very diverse part of the Dallas suburbs that was carved out & threw in with a bunch of rural (red) voters as far as 180 miles away!

@JoblessVince @tbonier Nice try. Red-state maps were drawn after the 2020 census exactly as the Constitution requires, not “a few years later” & not because Trump tweeted. VA Dems are the ones ramming through a 10-1 map in a D+5 purple state. That’s clearly ignoring voter geography and the census.

My friend invited me to his "casual game night." I thought that meant snacks and maybe Uno. He dimmed the lights, pulled out a whiteboard, and said, "We'll start with Catan, obviously." Obviously. Within 20 minutes, three grown adults were accusing each other of "sheep hoarding" with the intensity of a custody battle. One guy slammed his hand on the table and yelled, "You broke our wheat alliance, Trevor." I don't even know Trevor. I'm just trying to figure out why there's a resource called "ore" and why I'm emotionally invested in it. At one point, someone looked me dead in the eye and asked if I wanted to trade wood. I haven't recovered. We finished at midnight and my friend said, "Next time we'll do something light, like Twilight Imperium." I Googled it. That's not a board game. That's a part-time job with lore.
