@jonlis1 As much as I don't care for him, Dan has definitely got his tongue lodged firmly in his cheek here.

Back when I was in junior school one of the teachers got pregnant. I remember thinking that she should be sacked for being so blatant about having sex.

MI5 concerned about Lebedev, Johnson appoints him anyway. MI5 concerned about Braverman, Sunak appoints her anyway. What's the point of MI5 if PMs over-rule their concerns?

Rishi Sunak, the first Chancellor in UK history to receive a criminal sanction while in office, reappointed Cruella Braverman 6 days after she was sacked for what we now know were “multiple breaches of the ministerial code”. They have started as they mean to go on.

@OfSymbols Jack Monroe is right, you can't mock someone's disability just because they're a Tory.

@NicholasTyrone Presumably the deal was for Braverman plus all the other (very) right wingers, rather than just her?

Looks increasingly like Sunak selling his soul to Braverman in order to avoid the members’ ballot will define his time as prime minister. One more Tory PM wounded beyond repair by giving into the right of his party.

@fesshole Hard to believe they didn't check this for a specifically graduate position. An enrolment letter is meaningless.

4 months into uni I was told I wasn't registered despite having my enrolment letter. I just left as hated it. Later I applied for a graduate position based on the degree I would have gotten. 26 years and multiple promotions later I'm still terrified of being found out

@Richardmassey82 @theousherwood Although I agree with the sentiment here... I think a monarchy is a medieval thing and should never exist in the 21 century ... And yet I have had many Brits tell me I should respect the queen / king. Is this not conforming to the host nation traditions as well?

@bingy8 @Nurseborisbash It is/was an attempt by the Tories to pretend they were going to focus resources on the areas where they won seats from Labour in the north.

@RichardJMurphy I wish this would get through to the Labour leadership, otherwise they're just going to nod along with the upcoming austerity measures.

All of which will require plans that do not pretend that the country is like a household and that its supposed national debt is actually its fundamentally important money supply, and plans that do not bow down to markets.

Yesterday I suggested that Sunak was likely to fail. The thread in question got read a lot. Perhaps that was because as the day went on it became increasingly apparent that Sunak’s failure almost inevitable. A thread…

As a kid I once asked in a restaurant if duck was considered sea food, everyone takes the piss out of me for it now but at 29 I still think it's a valid question. I'm completely over it though. Maybe.

@twuttter @fesshole You don't really 'cook' smoked salmon in scrambled eggs, you just add it at the end to warm it up a bit.

@fesshole Seems a bit weird to put it in the oven but cooked smoked salmon isn’t unusual eg in scrambled eggs.

I only started eating fish as an adult. Every week I'd cook a new type of fish, to experience the variety. For a year I prepared smoked salmon by laying it on a baking tray and roasting it in the oven. Only found out when I went to a restaurant and complained the salmon was raw.
