A reality many Nigerians don't understand !!! In 2019 during Operation Zaman Lafiya Dole, we went on a clearance operation around Maiduguri. The terrain was flat and completely open. When the fight got intense, some of the same Kanuri civilians we came to save started speaking Kanuri to call Boko Haram and point out where we had taken cover. At the same time, commanders would give orders that you must not unalive any living thing you see else the person is armed even while these terrorists were using women, children, and even animals as suicide bombers. He came into the world during the Biafran War and spent his earliest years running from it. He eventually made it to America with nothing but his education and his conscience. He became a forensic pathologist in Pittsburgh. Quiet work. Unglamorous. He spent his days studying the dead. Then one morning in September 2002 the body of Mike Webster arrived at his table. Webster was a legend. A Pittsburgh Steelers Hall of Famer. Iron Mike. But he had died at just 50 years old, homeless, broken, suffering from memory loss, depression and fits of rage so severe his own family could barely recognise him. Everyone assumed it was just the sad end of a hard life. Dr. Omalu wasn't so sure. He spent months studying Webster's brain at his own expense, paying for tests out of his own pocket because nobody else believed it was worth investigating. What he found changed the world. Webster's brain was riddled with a degenerative disease caused by years of repeated blows to the head. Dr. Omalu named it Chronic Traumatic Encephalopathy. CTE. He published his findings thinking the NFL would be grateful. That they would want to protect their players. Instead they came for him. NFL linked doctors called his research wrong and demanded the paper be retracted. They questioned his credentials. They went after his immigration status, knowing he was not yet a citizen and that his visa depended on keeping his job. The pressure was immense. The threats were real. If, after what many observers consider a deeply flawed and shambolic trial, no official accepts responsibility or resigns, one could reasonably question the integrity of Finland’s judicial system. Continued silence or lack of accountability may lead many to conclude that Finland has abandoned the principles of justice and rule of law. Growing up as a little girl I’ve always loved @Arsenal cause of my brother, he would always shout “Gunners” and I’ll respond with “For Life” and it went on like that.
