@scottroots @Strava That’s great. I need to keep track or else it gets out of hand with snacks etc. Have really enjoyed my off season after spring races with a weeks all inclusive and a boys weekend away. A bit of normality will help.

@millsy262 @Strava I’ve managed to drop 6kg in 8 weeks, averaging 2400 cals a day (I don’t track gels etc when running)

Harry Maguire, who is English and Northern Irish… … has been demographically replaced in the England World Cup team by an African named ‘Addji Keaninkin Marc-Israel Guéh’ born in Ivory Coast. What’s the point in a ‘national’ football team if someone who is NOT from that nation can join? Maguire should play for England. Guéh should play for Ivory Coast. Common sense. I’m sure Maguire isn’t even allowed to contest this decision because, as his shirt says in the photo below, ‘no room for racism’.

@Holding532 @TrailsAndAlesUK I’m assuming many have no qualified run leaders / insurance etc. often see groups out in the winter with no real pace structure wearing dark clothing, no lights on unlit paths.

@TrailsAndAlesUK @montythemole They look like the first pair of running shoes I ever had (2008) might have to get them out the garage and wear to the pub on Friday evening

@SteAssent Running seems to have loads of unwritten rules that other sports don’t have. When playing cricket, rugby, golf etc in my younger years it was always about the score and no one got funny about it.

This new trend of people saying don't ask me my marathon time ask me instead (bunch of lame questions) Is fucking lame. It's a timed event you sausages. And if I could wave a magic wand and give you the fitness to run a 2:30 marathon, they'd all take it. Like doing a powerlifting meet and then getting mad when someone asks your total lmao.

🚨 NEW BAT SPONSER OF VAIBHAV SURYAVANSHI 🚨 - Vaibhav Suryavanshi was now sponsored by SS (Sareen Sports) for his bat. But according to sources, one of the most popular brands, MRF (Madras Rubber Factory), is now set to sponsor his bat. This is truly a very big deal for Vaibhav Suryavanshi. 🤯

My Vo2max when I ran a 4:01 mile was 67 My Vo2max when I ran 4:05 a few years later: 76 Performance is what matters. Looking at one number in isolation or chasing it is not the answer. This is why an obsession over any measure is misguided. Performance is holistic.

@scottroots I’ve just checked my stats. Faded by 3 mins in the second half which isn’t great but still gained nearly 900 places overtaking 20% of the people that were in front at halfway.

@scottroots You weren’t really trying in the first half. I thought I’d faded quite badly, for me, but nowhere near as much as some. I’ll have to dive into those stats.

London marathon stat based on Men gender position. At 5k I was in P13513, I lost another 200 places by 10k and crossed in P13719. By halfway I was in P12536 At mile 26? P8907. I overtook over 4,500 people, 80% of them were in the last 15km. What does that teach us?

What's something runners used to say but is now a relic of the past? I'll go first: "racing flats"

@sanguine61981 @DiBrander @RossMcCaff If he’d said from the outset he was going for 2:40-2:45 people outs have said fair play. It was the jump from 2-52 to 2-30 target that got the backs up of people who knew the difference in class of these performances. (I’ve run 2:48 & 2:49) for reference

@DiBrander @RossMcCaff Twitter is a strange place at the best of times, but this guy getting pelted for only running a 2:45 marathon is right up there. Do you have any clue of the training required to reach a 2:45 marathon?
