Made it! One of the cool kids now. Assume I should be doing daily intervals and targeting a sub 2hr marathon next weekend?

@scottroots £45 is mad! Maybe I’m getting too old & grumpy but I’m sure the inspos and their followers will be all over it. Who’s hammering out a 5k less than 48 hours before their A race marathon? I’ll be parkrunning the day before for £0

Just when the world couldn’t get more mental, you can now pay £45 for a 5k that the next day will have parkrun there for free. (Without laser tunnels, djs and medals though)

@StuBear03 Is it Run through? In 2022, I did the Cheshire half with them... 1st race allowed back post covid with a rolling start £20. Spring Cheshire half last Sunday, £60! Run through are destroying races.

@runcamille Ran my first sub 3 marathon in the T7. Preferred the T6. Also had a pair of the Adios which I didn’t run so well in a year later.

Fully prepared to be beaten as he is a faster runner than me but at this point just need to see what he can really do over the longer stuff. He should really be putting in a 15-16hour 100 on the SDW 100 if his goals are to be achievable.

Biggest week of the plan banked and fastest parkrun of the year (19:37) Helps that I haven’t run hard on a flat course for a while. Don’t think I’m quite in my 2021 form for SDW50 so need to work out what the target will be over the next 4 weeks.

Most runners run their easy days too fast. Using Daniels’ VDOT tables, here are typical easy pace ranges for different marathon levels. Easy running should generally stay below LT1. Conversational pace. You should be able to nasal breathe comfortably if you wanted to.

There are no magical training paces! VO2max, Lactate Threshold, Critical Velocity, etc. None of them are special. They all have their purpose. Think of training as a spectrum– from jogging to sprinting–not as zones. All paces are useful and at your disposal.

What matters in training for marathoners New analysis of 100k+ runners Faster runners: -Accumulated 3x the volume of slower runners -Had proportionally more easy running than higher intensities. As my HS coach told me years ago, step 1 is figuring out how to run more.

@LapChallenge All done on verbal arrangements earlier in the day & just trusted everyone would turn up. Usually know the route through town so have to guess where they will be at a certain time.

Saturday night… 1994… how did we actually arrange to meet up? What if we were late? Sure we roamed pub to pub to find everyone. Trying to explain phone boxes and landlines to the kids!

I’ve seen some posts of folks complaining that the Tokyo Marathon medal being small. If you completed Tokyo yesterday, did you think it was small?
