I’ve moved from one school without teaching heads of year to a similar school with teaching heads of year. I cannot tell you enough how much of a difference it makes.

@MatthewsHartC @ShakinthatChalk How many frees should I have for PPA as a normal classroom teacher on a 50 lesson a fortnight? Cohort is 200

@missm_science @ShakinthatChalk This is not feasible! Current school 18/25. Last school 14/25. Take your ppa from 9 hours and you’re left with nothing! It’s not ok! Also depends on size of cohort …. Have you got 30 students in your year group 🤣?!

When I do practicals with my classes I like to lay everything out on a single page. This is a lesson mat I made for investigating the energy in different food substances using calorimetry that I did with my year 7 class.

@hm how often do you update your stock on your website? I’m looking for a Xmas present in a certain size that is currently out of stock on your website

Is anyone else thinking we are starting to see the impact of 2 years of disruption and time at home, due to COVID 19, in schools? Extreme behaviours? Some pupils very emotional and struggling to regulate? Low attendance compared to normal? Winter bugs hitting hard?

@vwallop Leeds is the perfect combination of campus and city uni- all on one campus but 5 minute walk from campus to town. And 15-20 min walk to where students live from 2nd year onwards

18yo needs to choose universities. Wants to study biology. Grades aren’t an issue. He’s finding it very hard to narrow down. Any views on Nottingham, Bath, Leeds, Birmingham, Manchester, York or St. Andrews?

@honestteacher72 Love the idea of a big table- would be a lot easier if I had my own classroom/taught them in the same room. I was thinking primary routines could work well but struggling to think of many other than having student monitors

I enjoy being on my own, but no one actually talks about how us teachers go from social butterflies, interacting left, right and centre to being almost completely alone for weeks. It’s a lot. We need to support each other- especially those who don’t enjoy being alone so much🫶🏼

@ASOS please can you help me return a parcel. 2 weeks ago I arranged for it to picked up, the driver came twice but waited less than 30 seconds both times before driving off (the time it took me to run down stairs). I then went on holiday but can’t find how to arrange return

@MissHudsonHist I started painting abstract canvases (I’ve never been arty)- just a plain canvas from home bargains, some poly filler to add texture and paint testers- then sell them on FB market place - fills time, is enjoyable and makes a bit of money on the side

I’ve cleaned my flat, changed my bed sheets, put a load of washing on and now I’m bored. Day 1 of holidays living on my own 😞 Need some ideas of things to do on my own please?

I’ve worked in a school for over 2 years and today was the first time some of them seen me without a mask, one child literally stopped and stared at my face and goes ‘hmm wasn’t expecting that’ and walked away???

Spending HT developing a strategy/SOL for the coming term, as we have finished new content. I am thinking booklets that ensure spaced retrieval and avoid blocking of B1, C1 etc, also that the 'might come up' content is still given opportunity, with exam q practice. Thoughts? 1/2
