Actually, all Atlantic salmon sold in the US is farmed—no commercial wild Atlantic fishery exists here due to endangered stocks. East coast sushi spots (even in Boston) typically fly in wild Pacific salmon (king, sockeye, etc. from Alaska) for "wild caught" options. Farmed Atlantic is cheaper/common but often avoided for raw sushi by places prioritizing quality. Your point on location makes sense, but species/supply chains don't align that way.

Even if you’re comparing it to Starship, (shown to be a bad comparison by the comments) this single feat doesn’t signal that they’re ahead by any means. SpaceX already accomplished the booster catch. Subsequent tests have been focusing on second stage orbit and reentry. Happy to see many players in the space industry, but it’s laughable to think all others aren’t years behind SpaceX.

I don’t think Blue Origin recovering the same booster twice before SpaceX was on anyone’s Bingo card even a year ago. Exciting times!

@SantoroSystems I don’t think Tesla knows the answers to most of those questions. They’re gonna figure it out after they solve unsupervised on AI4. By then maybe they can do it with software and no hardware upgrade needed.

Yeah..... That was five quarters ago.... Even basic information would be massively appreciated. is a retrofit still necessary? Will it be based on ai4? Will it be based on ai5? Will it be more powerful than AI4? Will cameras need to be replaced? Will it include a front bumper camera? Will it include the camera washers? How far into development are you? When are you anticipating testing? When are you anticipating retrofits? When are you anticipating 50% of users?

@wholemars Yes, but would be really dumb to skip buying a Tesla now, waiting for AI5. It’s gonna be a while.

@Neodel I was in the same boat as you, but I decided to upgrade to new Y with HW4 and I’m very glad I did. Being on the latest version of FSD is well worth it. Not to mention that the value of HW4 cars will go up with better FSD while the value of HW3 cars may stagnate.

Estaba pensando en cambiar mi actual Tesla Model Y Legacy por el nuevo Juniper, principalmente por el cambio HW3 a HW4 y las otras mejoras pero no lo voy a hacer definitivamente. Sabiendo que en poco tiempo va a llegar HW5 además de posibles mejoras y/o cambio de modelo en un futuro no muy lejano además de la incertidumbre de que pasará con el HW3 en cuanto al FSD no es viable ni lógico un cambio actualmente. Además mi actual Legacy (Long Range RWD) apenas tiene 50.000km sin un solo fallo y funcionando perfectamente. Lo más lógico: esperar. La tecnología avanza muy rápido como para ir cambiando tan pronto

@smdcapital I think he’s trying to make clear that AI5 is not necessary for unsupervised FSD/robotaxi to scale. Maybe eventually cars will get AI5, but they would go to Optimus and Supercomputer clusters first.

this was an odd answer no? also why aren’t they mentioning whether they’ll make the AI hardware swappable or not? are all HW/HW4 cars obsolete when AI5 is out or will they be able to simply upgrade the hardware?
