I’m grateful that LIRR unions and the MTA reached an agreement tonight that recognizes both the critical importance of the LIRR and the workers who keep it running.

Phased LIRR service will resume tomorrow at noon, so New Yorkers should continue to make alternative travel plans and expect travel delays in the morning if they typically commute via the LIRR.

City Hall and City agencies will continue to coordinate to monitor traffic conditions, keep commuters safe, and support New Yorkers.

The MTA will provide limited bus service for essential workers and those who cannot telecommute. Visit mta.info for more information.

As negotiations between the MTA and workers continue and LIRR service remains suspended, the City is preparing for travel disruptions going into the workweek and New Yorkers should too.    Here’s the latest:    • City Hall and City agencies continue to coordinate preparedness and contingency efforts to support New Yorkers and maintain travel continuity.     • @NYC_DOT and @NYPDnews are operating a Joint Traffic Management Center to monitor traffic conditions.     • @NYPDnews officers will be deployed along major roadways, on the street level and inside subway stations to ensure traffic is moving, prevent illegal parking and keep commuters safe.     • @nycemergencymgt staff will be deployed to key shuttle bus hubs and drop-off locations in Queens to support riders.    • @helloDCWP will conduct outreach to licensed parking garage operators to remind them that parking rates cannot be increased without the required 60-day notice.    Here’s how to prepare:    • New Yorkers should plan for heavier-than-usual traffic and additional travel time.     • The MTA will provide limited bus service on weekdays for essential workers and those who cannot telecommute.   • Stay up to date by signing up for @NotifyNYC by texting NOTIFYNYC to 692-692 or visiting nyc.gov/notify
