@ecobee Is there an outage? All my comfort/sched settings are flipping back'n'forth every 5 sec between old settings. If I change one, it sticks for a few seconds and then reverts to a random past state. Happens on Android and web apps. Your tech support isn't answering.

@nicoleperlroth Radical, you say? Give everyone a Chromebook, Zero Trust, Security Keys, and cloud-enabled instant data recovery? Totally agree. Modern architectures are critical for defending billions of organizations and people at scale. 😇

@shinynew_oz did you get your solar+battery system installed in time? The grid in the Bay Area is a mess today.

@RickByers I was just kinda hoping this was actually about how to build and sustain a camp fire.

It's really hard to pivot to nurturing a self-sustaining flame when you're used to having a blow torch and are addicted to a supply of butane that's drying up. 😢 @komorama/the-self-sustaining-flame-84326d2e1645" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">medium.com/@komorama/the-…

@_ericzeng @ericlaw It's quite possible that the burglar had an iPhone and was the last one to report the iPad's location.

@ericlaw Could it be emitting bluetooth or AirTag-compatible signals that nearby devices can pick up on?

@shinynew_oz @EnergyGuyPhilly In my family we refer to that movie just as "the one where everybody dies." 😐 But I've only seen it once so I won't judge.

@antonycourtney @Rippling Ugh. That is one problematic missing feature from Google Authenticator. You can move your keys in bulk manually via the settings menu, but that doesn't work if your old phone died. Syncing them automatically would change the threat model, but probably worth it for most people.

There needs a better way to deal with the long tail of app state in phone upgrades. Currently locked out of getting my health insurance info because I upgraded my phone a month ago, and @Rippling uses a 2FA app (Google Authenticator) that doesn't migrate its state.

@shinynew_oz Yea! I hope your lights stay on. That's a long time. I just last week signed a roof-solar contract WITHOUT batteries, but then after 23+5 hours of outages this week I'm second guessing the lack of batteries part. If I lived in the woods like you I'd DEFINITELY want it.

Power is back after about 4.5 days. It's magical to flip a switch and have the lights come on. I signed the interconnection agreement for the planned whole-house backup batteries by kerosene lamp...

I thought I got all the skunk smell off and went out to lunch. The waitress just said "oh gosh I'm so sorry about that smell, I'll figure out what's going on" and I don't know how to tell her

In 1992, around 29,000 rubber ducks fell off a cargo ship in the Pacific Ocean. This is where they made landfall.

In the New Year, I'll be joining the Chrome DevRel team at @Google as a Developer Relations Engineer working on Chrome Extensions. Really excited to help with building the future of the WebExtensions ecosystem, and making it the best it can be for everyone.

Some news: I'm moving on from @1Password at the end of the year. I feel incredibly lucky to have worked with so many great people on so many great projects, and I'm going to miss it hugely. Change is always hard but I'm going to take a lot of great memories away with me.

@bgalbs There is! And it's very powerful. It was developed by some of the best engineers of the last 20 years. It's called "ad targeting." You didn't specify what you wanted that AI to optimize for -- Critical mistake.
