Metro is a top futuristic solution to meet city travel needs, beating traffic & with lesser vehicles on the road. Clean with low pollution. Mumbai Metro Blue Line 2 is 11 km long, carries 5-6 lakh passengers daily & reduces 90 min travel to 22 min & Rs 40/- fare.

🚇 One metro = approx 1000 passengers. Even with 10-20 trips per hour, capacity is only 10,000–20,000 people. @DipakNa11693917 @cbdhage Yeah. Unfortunately deadlines keep getting missed. Regarding expansion, stations are built for the future, but increased coaches follow years later. Delhi started with 4 then went to 6 & now at 8 coach. Mumbai Blue Line 1 is stuck at 4 but needs to be upgraded to 6 lines ASAP.

A look at Mumbai Metro Line 1 (Versova - Andheri - Ghatkopar). Bursting at the seams at peak hours, runs with 4 coaches & an average weekday ridership of upto 550,000 pax per day, 28000 pax per hour (15 trains/hr) & 2000 pax per train.

Metro is the superior public transport. Mass transport, volume, dedicated corridor. Fast for medium & long distance commutes. Safe, ngon polluting environment friendly & streamlined operations catapults the city into a futuristic milleu. Absolute blessing.

@haldilal I agree. I was trying to illustrate a number just about 5 lakh, and I'm sure Hinjawadi will take time to touch 5 lakh, unlike the way Mumbai Blue Line one is super crowded. People visit Hinjawadi from multiple places & directions, not just places along the metro lines.

Some people would love the super convenience of being as close to the metro station as possible. Even being in the neighbouring building would be quite far. @ThaneNeedsMetro

I really wonder what is meant by "Single-track metro", that can never "handle this load". The Pune Metro is no less than any metro. I see real solutions here, rather than dreams. Metro systems bring home that global quality of life to our Indian cities & must be welcomed.

Rs. 40 will get people to BKC by Mumbai Metro Aqua Line 3, to continue the journey further.

@nitipune007 Pre 2014, I used multiple modes & routes, often with great time & expense from home to workplace in Marol. From 2014, I switched to Mumbai Metro 1 Blue Line on day one. @MumbaiMetro01. That was it. Modern AC trains in 11 min. Traffic jams & auto fares cut from 70/- to 20/-.

First let the Metro line be commissioned. See the response & scale up frequency & carrying capacity based on need. As per the experiences in other cities, it takes time to adopt. People may still use alternatives like bus, auto, personal vehicle or staff bus as the case may be.

For Pune Metro Line 3, Phase 1 compromising stations between Maan & Ramnagar (Baner) is expected to commence operations in July. Phase 2, covering the remaining 11 stations between High Street (Baner) and Shivajinagar, is currently targeted for opening in October.

People leave India to find higher standards of living. I celebrate the expansion of metro systems in India with this world class clean, efficient, affordable modern mode of transport to our cities here, a better alternative to the busy roads & unscrupulous cab & auto operators.

As of now, India does not appear to have a law or condition for pure transit. So many foreigners use Indian carriers & transit via India.

IndiGo basically flew in a Pakistani from London to Mumbai to connect further to Kathmandu. Does the airline do no checks?! @IndiGo6E The Pakistani was inside BOM's most sensitive international area. Transit area technically. A potential terrorist. CISF didn't detect. Nor did @BOIndiaOfficial She showed off her Pakistani passport in the lounge. Ate food in the lounge. And you're telling me a potential terrorist was inside BOM T2 for ten hours scouting around?! Do you realise how IC814 started?! And she says she'll meet Mumbai again. @Nai25344G Nice pics. These pillars are for the skywalk that connects Chembur Metro Stn. on L2B Yellow Line with VNP RC Marg Junction Monorail Stn. This is towards Chembur Naka in the Mandale Direction. The Chembur Metro station will open with only the A entrances (towards Dahisar) ready.

Pier works for the Western (Dahisar side) entrance of Metro 2B Chembur station.
