I thought he said he didn’t care about the Strait of Hormuz; it’s other countries problem and anyway it would be a simple military operation to open it up and Iran is begging to make a deal? Oh never mind…
Barak Ravid@BarakRavid

🚨🚨Trump on Truth Social: Remember when I gave Iran ten days to MAKE A DEAL or OPEN UP THE HORMUZ STRAIT. Time is running out - 48 hours before all Hell will reign down on them. Glory be to GOD!

“New frontline.” New CNN euphemisms for the systematic destruction of educational systems as a method of war. Scholasticide.

No demand on the US and Israel to stop escalating and no denunciation of Trump’s threaten to reduce Iran to the Stone Age. Think of the implication of this open threat to commit what would be an egregious war crime, even if it is inconceivable that the US will carry through this threat. What is dangerous is normalising such discourse. These one-sided demands on Iran show the spinelessness of European leaders with some exceptions. This does not mean no appeals for de-escalation should be made to Iran as its actions are causing huge global turmoil too. But these appeals should be preceded by acknowledging the culpability of those who triggered this war for largely trumped up reasons.
Beate Meinl-Reisinger@BMeinl

I had a call with the Foreign Minister of Iran Abbas @araghchi . We discussed the situation in Iran and the spiralling escalation in the Middle East. Diplomatic solutions and de-escalation are urgently needed. I emphasized the need to end the strikes on neighbouring countries and restore freedom of navigation in the Strait Hormuz especially regarding the humanitarian aspect of global food security with a focus on fertilizers and other essential goods. Regarding the Iranian nuclear program Austria supports any diplomatic way forward that leads to a new agreement and full cooperation with the @iaeaorg . In times like this it is important to maintain dialogue.

‘If you do something for long enough, the world will accept it,’ a former senior Israeli military lawyer declared ahead of a previous assault on Gaza. ‘We invented the targeted assassination thesis and we had to push it. [Now] it is in the centre of the bounds of legitimacy’

hello US - your top officials can’t speak about bombing a country into the Stone Age and also argue that the missing pilot downed over Iran skies should be treated by the terms of the Geneva Convention if captured. I do hope he is, but in the Stone Age, such norms didn’t apply

Gauze was invented in Gaza... Now prevented from using it by Israel. And this is not a small thing: people are actually losing limbs as a result! 😡😡
The IMEU@theIMEU

Israel is blocking the entry of gauze and antibiotics into Gaza, causing severe shortages. Without these basic medical supplies, Palestinians have had to get preventable amputations due to the spread of infection on treatable wounds. #intcid=_wired-verso-hp-trending-bktb_2e335cc7-6617-46e6-b411-9081e3f0ddae_cygnus-personalized" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">wired.com/story/gaza-war…

Entirely misses the point that it's a death penalty that only applies to one ethnicity, the Palestinians, a people who are illegally occupied, living under military rule and subject to dispossession, constant violence and ethnic cleansing

“Diplomacy is not reality TV. The world is not a casino. Statecraft is not a real estate deal.” @UNReliefChief @TFletcher tells me that as the war with Iran continues to escalate, “We’ll be paying for this war for years to come… “We’re deeply frustrated… that’s diplomatic speak for saying we’re furious. Because rich people are winning out of this. The arms dealers are winning… And the people I serve are losing.”
